This could be a great event hall, but two problems. One, not enough events, and two) problematic staff. It is such a waste of a large interesting space to have only a few events at best per month. The second problem conformed me recently when I found out an event was in really late, rushed over to the hall (I live 5 minutes away) and was told that although there were places available (an R&B standibg show), I couldn't buy a ticket. The staff member (standing in front of pay terminal) said that she had been working all day and so they stopped selling tickets... I thought this was weird as I saw u could still buy one online (as I live nearby thought it would be quicker just to go and pay)... The staff member didn't inform me I could buy online, and was quite happy to send me away. So I stood in front of her and bought the ticket online, had it scanned, and entered the venue... If I hadn't checked before going I would have been sent away, depriving the venue and artist of the revenue and me of an enjoyable evening. Staff...
Read more9 minutes late with 2 people, refused entry. No flexibility, no understanding, no reimbursement of tickets is possible. The only gesture was to change to the following day's show, but I guess that if it was sold out we would've left with empty hands. Now we have 2 tickets to sell as we can't make it anyway.
Show was 80 minutes long, we could have entered discretely. A birthday present ruined... Obviously a big disappointment.
Not even in the most pretentious of places does this happen...
EDIT: I went the day after after finding the time to do so. The show was very interesting, congratulations to the team. People were however allowed in after 25 minutes. Maybe friends...
Read moreThis is a cultural center in a spectacular location: a former indoor market dating back to 1865. After major renovations it now serves as a European cultural venue for the performing arts. The main hall can seat 750 or 2000 standing spectators. Before the show there's a cosy bar in the cellar. Although the building is not classified as a monument, it's certainly worth a visit for the spectacular facade and interior. The only drawback: the seating in the main hall is a typical prefab plastic-metal construction. It's okay for a short performance but the (cramped) seats can become uncomfortable for...
