My wife and I recently stayed at Cambridge celebrating our anniversary, and it was truly special. This was our 3rd visit, our 1st being 11 years ago for our honeymoon and this time did not disappoint. The service, hospitality, grounds, and beach views are second to none. They also treat returning guests quite well.
Our favorite spot at the resort is Breezes beach. The water is incredible, and a place you could relax all week long. The rooms are spacious and really nice. Our room had a panoramic view of the bay, and an amazing sunrise. Out of the restaurants on premise, the food at Sunken Harbor Club is definitely the most elevated and creative. Breezes restaurant is solid but service and creativity of the cuisine is not as strong – although you can eat on the beach at sunset which is amazing (just have to request when you make a reservation and pay a set up fee). The pool bar Pastel had some nice food but the service was noticeably slow compared to the rest.
Wanted to shout out a few people out specifically that went above and beyond. Seth, super nice guy always had a smile and went out of his way to say hello and check in to see how we were doing. Amit made sure we were taken care of and remembered us very early on in our trip which made us feel special. The bartender at Breezes, we forget his name, but made killer drinks and super personable. Honestly the service here is above and beyond! Definitely matches for what you pay. These people work incredibly hard and long hours to make sure you are taken care of.
As returning guests we noticed quite a few changes since we last visited 8 years ago. The resort now is open to families with kids, breakfast is no longer complimentary, and tea time has limited offerings with just tea and simple cookies. Understandably things will change over time, but both my wife and I thought that these specific things devalued the experience. Breakfast was something we looked forward to every day, with an amazing buffet. But now you pay individually for everything (it’s still a great breakfast). Also the background music at Shoreline (used to be Tamarisk) changed to pop music instead of nice relaxing music which changes the vibe. Allowing kids/families is fine, but kids of certain ages inevitably turn things into jungle gyms, and getting upset about not getting the type of food they want etc. It just doesn’t feel like the type of place set up for kids. Tea time is a special part of the Bermuda experience. When we came last time, they used to have a nice spread of desserts and finger sandwiches along with tea/coffee. Now you have the option of tea, and a small cookie, but if you want the other stuff they used to have you have to pay extra for “high tea.” Overall, the changes didn’t drastically affect our experience, this is still a wonderful place, but they were definitely felt, and the decisions felt more business minded than guest minded. And the end result is a considerably higher bill at the end of the trip.
One final thing, there was a wedding on premise the day before we departed. Seems like a great place to have a wedding, but we did notice how they shut down several areas of the resort for the wedding and played super loud music until 11-12pm, which didn’t seem very considerate of the resort guests who are all paying a lot to be there. It’s a tricky balance for sure.
Will we come back? Definitely. There’s something unique about Cambridge that we...
Read moreThe resort is beautiful with very good food and great sunsets but is somewhat removed from other Bermuda attractions. Resort beaches are clean but small and non-descript. Staff is very friendly for the most part except Anthony in dining services. He is miserable and always seems put out. Never welcomed or offered signature swizzle drink at check in and again staff there seemed inconvenienced at our arrival. Deluxe Rooms are adequate, pool is small and unlike other resorts doesn't really act as a central meeting spot Pros- kudos to chef, food is very good tasting but not extensive menu options. Room service is very responsive. BBQ is a local favorite and a must do. For everything some staff lacked, Asbu was terrific. Cons- management is non existent. Must of eaten 12 meals in resort restaurants and not once did we have a manager ask if everything was ok. Food menu is very limited and gets old quickly. No idea if there is concierge service. We were basically thrown keys at check in with instructions to look for golf cart outside to show us the room Overall the resort is inconsistent for a 4 star resort and lacks an identity Amenities may check a box but certainly...
Read moreI have been to Cambridge Beaches in Bermuda and it’s an amazing place. The location is right on the coast, with beautiful views of the ocean in every direction. The water is calm and clear, and the beaches around the resort are peaceful and clean. It felt like a private escape from the rest of the island… quiet, relaxing, and surrounded by natural beauty.
The resort itself is well maintained, with charming pink cottages, tropical landscaping, and little pathways that lead to hidden beaches and coves. It has that classic Bermuda feel but with enough space and privacy that you never feel crowded.
The restaurants on the property were also really good. We ate at a couple of them during our stay and everything was fresh and flavorful. The seafood was especially great and the views from the outdoor seating areas made each meal feel special.
Getting there from the airport was simple… the taxi cost about $75. It’s a bit of a drive across the island but once you arrive, you’ll see why it’s worth it.
I would absolutely stay at Cambridge Beaches again. The combination of coastal views, good food, and a peaceful atmosphere makes it one of my favorite places...
