Historic patrimony and government house of Espírito Santo, the Anchieta Palace is a jesuit building, wich was erected between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Originaly, the building functined as a church, named Santiago's Church, and as a school, serving to the religious interests until their expulsion in 1759. Passed many modifocation proccesses in the following centuries, the building still as a house of the government, functioning as a cultural place too, where are recepted several itinerant exhibitions, visits in its permanent collection and, specially at saturdays and sundays, visits in the governor's cabinet, passing through old...

They provided the context of events that accompanied the distinct transition s from the early Jesuit founding of what became the President's or later State Governor's Palace plus how & why the actual negotiations were proferred between the parties involved. As these knowledgeable guides led me through private sections of the Palace (tours available only on weekends) they gave documented historical accounts how leadership & decision-making advanced in this rapidly growing state that was first explored in 1488 as settlement began...

Localizado no coração de Vitória-ES, o Palácio Anchieta não é apenas a sede do Governo do Estado, mas também um dos edifícios históricos mais fascinantes do Brasil. Sua construção remonta ao século XVI, quando os padres jesuítas ergueram ali um colégio para a catequização dos indígenas. Com o passar dos séculos, o prédio passou por diversas transformações, incêndios e reformas, até se tornar o imponente palácio que conhecemos hoje.

Ao adentrar seus corredores, somos transportados a uma época de missões religiosas e conflitos culturais, onde a presença dos jesuítas moldou parte da identidade capixaba. Durante a visita guiada, é possível admirar a arquitetura colonial e conhecer relatos sobre a resistência indígena e as mudanças políticas que marcaram o local. Infelizmente, o andar superior só pode ser visitado nos finais de semana, mas mesmo assim a experiência é enriquecedora.

Outro ponto positivo é a acessibilidade do espaço, garantindo que todos possam explorar essa joia histórica sem restrições. Além disso, a visitação é gratuita e o atendimento dos guias é excelente, sempre prontos para compartilhar curiosidades e responder perguntas.
