Incredible view of Rio below. We went on a day that was (sadly) a bit overcast and it was difficult to see all the sights well, although a large sign is posted with an image of how the different landmarks can be seen and identified from this spot. The pavilion is quite beautiful and with a roof that shines in the sun like brass or copper. You can drive up, but we saw many people walking or biking up the steep and winding roads, the trails look awesome and I wished I had budgeted time to hike through some of the dense trees and foliage there in the Tijuca park. I'm sure you will want to do standard hiking prep of good shoes and lots of insect repellent. The view from both Vista Chinesa and from the Emperors table are well worth the time and trouble to get there, spectacular.

There are some gorgeous trails and viewpoints all along the road and this is one of them. Take about half a day to go around all of them, you can spend more time if you want to do the many trails available. The forest area and greenery are worth visiting and the security staff at the gates are very helpful. Keep some water with you as it can get hot and humid in the trail areas depending on when you go. It is also great for biking if you are up for it. There are no rentals available at the spot, so you will have to arrange for these beforehand elsewhere.

Nice view to the city on a clear day (which is often misty in the summer time) overview of Rio from the other side ( compared to sugarloaf mountain) but the place itself is no surprise! Very very simple Pavillon baboon structure. We hiked from the city and encountered nobody on the way. Due to the rains and humid weather in this land in summer, hiking with a relatively big elevation game wasn’t that fun either! Not sure how to get there by public transportation, doesn’t seem easy either. Keep going on the way, the road leading ahead is also blocked

Seriously overrated view point. You come to an dead end road at the entrance of Tijuca National Park. There is no parking anywhere so the only choice is to park on the road side which the guard said he can give you a ticket for if he wants. Then there is a almost 4 km. walk we which goes up and down to reach the view point. Extremely disappointing view and there is trees in the way as well. No toilets and nobody selling drinks or snacks. Then you have to be on your look out for those crazy racing bikes 🚴 people which shows no respect for anyone.

We took Uber right to the enterence of the park. Hiked the trail through parque da cidade. It is a level 3 hike and takes about an hour to reach Vista Chinesa. As you hike, you will be rewarded with the beauty of the Atlantic forest. Follow the signs for trail, it can be confusing at times but you can figure out the trail easily. The hike is tough in spots, wear good hiking shoes. At Vista Chinesa you will be rewarded with fantastic views of Rio, Cristo Redentor, the beeches and Pao de Acucar.

The Vista Chinesa is one of the belvederes of Rio de Janeiro, at the topmost of one of the roads that connect the Jardim Botânico area to the Parque Nacional & Floresta da Tijuca, known as the Estrada da Vista Chinesa.
