Wonderful museum with lots to see, from prehistory to now. Tons of Bulgarian history to learn about. Tickets are only 4 leva per person, which is absolutely worth it. We went during the winter and it was pretty chilly, so be sure to dress warm. There are not many English translations for the exhibits, maybe a third of the museum. There's also a small gift shop with curios to buy.

There are also interactive playgrounds in the museum. The museum is quiet, spacious, and has a lot of information to see and learn. You should definitely visit this museum

Разположен е в регион с изключително стратегическо, геополитическо и културно-историческо значение и от основаването си през 1952 г. до днес, заема почетно място в духовния живот на града и цяла Югозападна България. Намира се в старинния квартал „Вароша” в Благоевград, в близост до църквата „Въведение Богородично” и заедно с тях е включен в Националното движение „Опознай България – 100 национални туристически обекти”. Експозиционната площ на музея е разгърната на четири нива и разкрива природното богатство, археологическото, историческо, етнографско и художествено наследство на Пиринския край – малка, но съществена част от внушителния фонд от над 100 000 стойностни културни ценности, които днес РИМ – Благоевград притежава, опазва, изучава и популяризира.

A fantastic museum, much to our surprise! Blagoevgrad is a small town but this is a large museum rich in archaeological finds, natural history and cultural items. The ticket cost 4 Lev which is excellent considering how much there is to see. As an archaeologist I was amazed to see artefacts here that I had never seen outside of textbooks before! Also to see examples of the wildlife of the area was fascinating, with some innovative displays. The staff are friendly and translations are...
