During part of stay in Blagoevgrad to visit our daughter, we had too many family members to stay in her flat, so my wife and I stayed at the Cardinal for over a week. The hotel and room were excellent. We had eaten at the restaurant many times during a previous visit to the city, but had not previously stayed there in the hotel itself. The room was well appointed and kept very clean throughout our stay. We were not thrown off by the bathroom layout of having the shower with no separation from the toilet. It is a common way to do it in Bulgaria and other parts of Europe. The hotel's restaurant and staff are exceptional. We do not speak any Bulgarian, but it was no problem and they were very good in making sure we got what we needed. We ate several times for breakfast and dinner and always received a good meal. The hotel is located close to the city centre and on good route to make it easy to get in and out of the city if you're driving. Staff are indeed helpful and as others say will let you leave your luggage with no bother. Just a few downsides, though: if you are a really early riser as I am, you won't find the restaurant open or even be able to get a coffee. But no worries- directly across the street is a 24/7 booze, cig and snack shop with...
