Outside the museum is a fragmented Charlie Chaplin statue which shows promise for a humorous visit ... however this is short-lived. I actually came out of the museum feeling depressed, but maybe the joke is on me. The majority of the floors are hung with satirical images, drawings and other pieces of art. There's a child-restricted area, but I'm not quite sure why. There are nude artworks, but nothing pornographic or alarming for children. The best piece for me inside was the mirrored Fabergé-type egg with a tap. The story goes that the tap allows the cook to remove only as much of the egg that is required for a recipe and is able to safe the rest, drop by drop. There's also a labyrinth of mirrors which was short, but a strange experience. I don't recommend entering if you are hung-over or drunk! I was happy to visit the museum, but maybe the style of humour...
Read moreWe had a nice afternoon at this museum.
The museum is divided in four different floors if i remember correctly. Each of them has a different theme, one of the floor is dedicated to the people in Gabrovo who, as far i could find (me not being Bulgarian) they hate spending money. It is quite diverse and it does not get boring. Also, for foreigners is pretty good as every single article is translated to English.
However and this is why I only rate it three stars, the air-con was switched off, our visit has been in august and it is pretty warm. We got to the point where we had to quit seeing it as the heat got terrible.

Read moreSerendipitous accident to find this museum....we were looking for a bakery on way south to Shipka Pass. Was greeted by English speaking guide (thank you😊) whoo gave us an orientation tour which was helpful and interesting. We were then left to our own devices . They have various permanent (why does Grabovo have a humour museum?) and temporary exhibits, all were well presented with English captions. Humour translates well, there were local and international exhibitors. Mix of slapstick, political, environmental etc. humour. Some quite thought provoking. As an Australian would say that Grabovians like to 'take the piss' out of themselves. Would highly recommend. An hour would be enough time but could have spent more. Cute gift shop with some...
