Elbow Falls is a gem in Alberta’s Kananaskis Country, and it’s easy to see why it’s a favorite for nature lovers. The drive from Calgary is a breeze—about 45 minutes—and the scenery along the way sets the tone for a fantastic outing. The falls themselves are stunning, especially in late spring when the water is roaring from the snowmelt. The sound of the cascading water and the misty air create a refreshing escape from the city. The area is well-maintained, with clear trails and viewing platforms that make it accessible for most visitors, including families with kids. There are picnic spots nearby, perfect for a packed lunch with a view, and the surrounding forest offers short, scenic hikes for those wanting to stretch their legs. The rocky riverbank is great for photos, though it can get slippery, so watch your step. My only gripe is the parking—it can get packed on weekends, and you might have to circle or park farther down the road. Also, the facilities are basic (think outhouses), so plan accordingly. Still, the natural beauty and peaceful vibe make Elbow Falls a must-visit. It’s not a full-day adventure unless you’re hiking deeper into the area, but for a quick dose of nature, it’s near perfect....
