Horseshoe Canyon, located near Drumheller, is a breathtaking natural formation that offers a spectacular display of the Canadian Badlands' unique topography. This expansive canyon, shaped like a horseshoe, provides visitors with panoramic views that are both awe-inspiring and serene.

As you approach the canyon, the first thing that strikes you is the vastness of the landscape. The panoramic vistas of layered rock formations, interspersed with greenery, create a striking contrast against the Alberta skies. The walking trails around the canyon are well-maintained and offer various levels of hiking difficulty, making it accessible for both casual walkers and more adventurous hikers.

One of the highlights of Horseshoe Canyon is its geological and historical significance. The layers of rock tell a story millions of years old, rich with fossilized remains and intriguing formations. It's a geologist's and paleontologist's paradise but equally fascinating for any nature enthusiast.

The canyon is not only a feast for the eyes but also a haven for photographers and nature lovers. Sunrise and sunset are particularly magical times to visit, as the play of light transforms the landscape into a myriad of colors.

In summary, Horseshoe Canyon is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Drumheller. Its natural beauty, hiking trails, and geological wonders offer a unique and memorable experience that encapsulates the essence of the...

It was spectacular! We were there 2 weeks ago. There were people doing mountain biking and saw that she just flew from our left hand side when we walked by … Not sure if it was allowed but there are many signs to say that we shall preserve the nature and don’t do anything to hurt or destroy its beauty, so that many generations of people can also hate the chance to see this wonderful horseshoe canyon !! There are many small and nice flowers 🌺 and it’s nice to just lie down for some sun on a windy day 😁 The plants are quite some different kinds to see. We were on the way back home but it’s a very good walk. My friend said there were not that many signs or built wooden lookouts, stairs, handrails etc before. In case you scare to fall, there are some aids and there is a bench on the way up / down to the lookout point. Take your time and enjoy the nature 😊 There are two sides of the carpark. One is closer to the starting point. So that side usually parked more cars. There are also restrooms, one for male and the other for female (they are all individual and big enough for wheelchairs or if you want to go in with children) It is a recommended place and I would like to bring my family there too :) We saw somebody with dogs … so it’s pet...

We visited Horseshoe Canyon near Drumheller, and it was easily one of the most stunning landscapes we’ve ever seen. The views here are absolutely breathtaking—pictures just don’t do it justice. As soon as you walk up to the edge of the canyon and look out over the layered rock formations and winding trails below, you’re hit with a sense of wonder that’s hard to put into words.

There’s something truly humbling about walking on land shaped by millions of years of erosion—land where dinosaurs once roamed. The colors and textures of the canyon walls change with the light, and every turn along the trail reveals something new and awe-inspiring. It feels like you’ve stepped into another time.

We spent hours just exploring, taking photos, and soaking in the silence and natural beauty around us. It’s peaceful, raw, and completely unforgettable. Whether you're into hiking, geology, photography, or just love being outdoors, this place has something magical to offer.

Horseshoe Canyon is a must-visit if you're anywhere...
