I've loved this beach from the time I was a little boy, camping with my family, to this post summer bringing my own family to enjoy this beautiful strand. This is about as good as it gets for an ocean beach above the 49th parallel; you might think you're on the Mediterranean or in the South Pacific, it's THAT good! With sailboats at anchor in the bay, and warm waters to swim in, it's just such a delight to frolic here for as long as you can! The bluffs of Helliwell Park frame one side of the bay and rolling sandstone rock are on the other side. There's plenty of free parking, nice pit toilets and an old tennis court at the far end...

It's a great beach to sit and explore! The beach is long enough that even with the busy crowds you can usually find a spot if you walk far enough down the beach. The water is clear and beautiful to swim in. Cool rock formations walking from big tribune beach to small tribune beach. More quiet areas that you can sit and explore surrounding marine life. However, getting to hornby requires two ferry trips from Vancouver island. ($85 round trip) and with unpredictable cancellations for ferry departures, it's recommended to check ferries and come a little earlier than you might think. Overall: good area but won't be coming back...

Fascinating sandy beach with clear water and nice views! In a 26 deg early September day, water was chilly! Family friendly and has 4 cabin washrooms. Dogs are not allowed on the beach. Spending the day on the island was too short due to ferries schedule. For day use, try to be on the island as early as possible and expect delays for each ferry. If you are planning to book and stay overnight, you'd better do months ahead of time. Maybe a year? It is...

Tribune Bay Beach is honestly one of the best beach I’ve ever visited in Canada. The beach itself resembles many of the beautiful tropical beaches in asia with its crystal clear blue water and white sand. It took me and my family 2 hours to get there from Parkaville due to the long ferry however the long wait was worth it!
