Hornby Island is a real gem amongst many other gems. It sits in the rain shadow of Vancouver Island and enjoys a much warmer and dryer climate year round. Tribune Bay provincial park really benefits from this warmer climate and features one of Canada's hottest beaches. It is incredible busy in the summer with visitors who tend to crowd the side closest to the entrance (walk to the far side for a bit of personal space). In the winter it is nearly deserted with the occasional local and thier dogs being the only ones in sight. Check out Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Center in August for drop in fun including high ropes, climbing tower, kayaking, and the very exciting...

This place is a secret national treasure. There are just not a lot of places like this in all of Canada. The beach, fantastic. The warm clean clear ocean water, fantastic. The accommodations....umm...what accommodation? After driving onto 2 ferries and crossing another island to get here....there is nearly nowhere to stay, and the ferries stop running early. We became trapped and the local campground informed us we should have reserved camping 6 months in advance....hhhhh. I wish the brochure had of stated this. Work on it boys. I recommend taking your...

This is a really choice spot as far as beaches go mid-vancouver-island. Takes 2 ferries to get there, but if you time it right it's not too bad. Good place to spend the day, lots of beach real-estate to spread out. Doesn't cost anything to enter. YMMV on parking availability, but we didn't have issues on a Wednesday in July. Great place to camp, if you can find a available sites. If you have a boat even better, you can just anchor off the beach and paddleboard in. No dogs, no liquor, and no smoking of any...

One of the best beaches I’ve ever been to, for many reasons! Super clear, calm, shallow water, protected bay, water warms up over fine sand and occasional rock formations teeming with aquatic life. Perfect for kids, teens with skim boards and adults with floaties. Tons of parking. Generously sized outhouses. Note: Bring a cooler with food (large grocery store in town), water and, ideally, a pop up beach shelter-not much shade/shelter on the beach

Amazing rock formations and a huge beach which is great for swimming. The bay is large and if you're coming by boat you'll want to be careful with the direction of wind to anchor. If the wind is coming from the south it can be quite rough in the bay, north wind it is calm. The cute little town is just a short walk away with great restaurants. And nearby there is a large campground that fills up with reservations so book early.

One of the park's most captivating aspects is its scenic beauty, combining lush forests with the strikingly clear waters of the bay. Hiking trails weave through the park, offering glimpses of local wildlife and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The park's campgrounds are well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay for visitors who wish to immerse themselves in this tranquil environment overnight.
