A guided hike to the Burgess Shale led by the Geoscience Foundation is a must do on your trip to Yoho national park. Our guide (Hugh) was masterful at providing the scientific content to the group in a way that was interesting to folks with all levels of interest and background. We had a mixed crowd of grade school children as well as adults who had been fossil enthusiasts for 60 years and everyone came away having learned something and appreciating the fossils even more. Can't speak highly enough of the guide's knowledge and enthusiasm for engaging with us :)

Amazing experience. The hike was incredible -- through a beautiful forest with amazing views -- and reaching the fossils beds was so cool (for lack of a better articulation). On top of it, our guides were amazing. Both Steven and Antoine (I can't spell) were engaging, friendly, knew the right pace to hike at, and were insanely knowledgeable, the both of them. This added so much to the experience! Highly recommend this if you're in the area ... Or, better yet get to this area so you can do this hike!

Walcott Quarry hike was excellent. The scenery, including Yoho Lake, Wapta Mountain and views from high above Emerald Lake are amazing, and our guide Antoine did a great job of explaining the geology and fossils that we saw. It’s a long hike, about 8 hours return with 800m of elevation gain, so not suitable for everyone but a great experience.

Awesome experience and hike up to the Burgess Shale Geoscience Mount Stephen Trilobite Beds! You can only hike this with one of their guides and in a group. You need to reserve this in advance. Cost is $95 per adult. 800 metres gain in elevation which is significant, but you have a number of stops along the way high above the village of Field, BC. Our guide was very informative about the trilobite beds and the area itself and its history. We were in a group of ten persons of varying fitness levels and hiking ability. Everyone made it to the top as our guide was pretty good with measured stops and even for lunch on the way up. Very steep in many parts for sure. Bring hiking poles or they will have a pole for you in Field. The trilobite fields were on the side of the mountain and were awesome! At least 500 million years old fossils so very special. You are not allowed to take the fossils. This hike and experience were well worth the money and the...

Fabulous experience, our guide, Steven is a walking Geo-Science encyclopedia.

My wife and I + 2 friends + 6 others made the hike on June 21. Our guide Steven was a font of knowledge as he led us up the mountain and back 500 million years. He timed the stops and fascinating anecdotes so we could all catch our breath (most expert at pacing a disparate group; age 11 - 70). On the way back down he patiently walked with my wife & I at the tail so she could take her time with decent. Such a fine Fellow (Thank you Steven...
