The Siding is one of two restaurants in the charming mountain village of Field in Yoho National Park. It’s a small and friendly eatery with a gift shop inside as well and some seating inside and outside on their patio.
I ate lunch here on my last day in Field while visiting in the summer of 2017 and ordered the rice bowl which had brown rice, shredded carrots, sprouts, purple cabbage, tofu and a delicious tahini dressing. It was very tasty and a great option for me, as a gluten-free and vegetarian eater. The menu also had soup, salad, a noodle bowl, Buddha bowl, paninis and burgers (including a veggie burger).
I enjoyed eating my lunch while sitting outside and admiring the mountain views.
Everything on the menu was reasonably priced and the service was friendly. If you’re looking for a great place for lunch or dinner in Field, definitely check out The Siding. I look forward to dining here again when I return to...
Read moreI was here seven years ago and rated this cafe a four star and said this: "Good food. Excellent service. Quaint atmosphere". I was there four days ago and it's fallen into disrepair, the bathrooms were out of order, the service is poor, and the food is genuinely inedible. I had a reuben pannini sandwich. The bun was stale, it had one thin slice of corned beef, maybe a tablespoon of sourkraut, and it was all drowned in a white sauce that tasted like spoiled mayonaisse. With tip it was a few cents shy of twenty dollars. I ate about one third of it and threw the rest away. It was disgusting. It's a shame because this used to be such a good cafe and I would go out of my way to stop there. It's currently for sale so maybe that has something to do with it. I will try it again when it's under new ownership. Until then I strongly suggest you...
Read moreA very cute little eatery in the middle of a very small enclave (Field) made up of mostly cabins for visitors to Yoho national park. The enclave is charming, almost like a gnome village. There are only 2 places to eat, and this is one of them. The menu is on the 'Hippie side' that was done very well. meatball Curry, very flavorful rice base, tender meatballs, delicious bread Buddha Bowl, also delicious basmati rice base, tofu had a good tender/chewy balance chicken burger was nicely grilled and not greasy They take credit card and cash. Street parking not too hard to find in this little town They do a lot of takeout so sit-down dining doesn't have much wait time. Seems like a first come first serve type of thing. Go...
