Hello everyone I hope this review helps you decide to go on a truly fun experience no matter the age. First off, I must say the staff is absolutely so pleasant to deal with. They go way above their duty to make sure that you feel comfortable, entertained and that you feel safe. Kate was our guide and she was extremely knowledgable and so kind. I had asked a lot of questions and she had absolutely no trouble answering every single one of them. On top of that it was my birthday today and she did a little tradition of singing, happy birthday, and getting me to blow out miners candle. Well, you will know what candle that was when you go on the tour.(= The amount of enjoyment my wife and I got from this tour was definitely all to do with the Incredible staff this facility has. The mine itself is amazing and the show at the end is something right out of a Hollywood movie. This was our first time, but definitely will not be our last. And for every single person that helped us later that afternoon, I truly feel humbled, knowing that there are so many people that care. Thank you so much for everything, the museum, and everything inside of it, including the staff are treasures. P.S I wanted to also say that the cafΓ© has amazing food and some of the best lemon squares Iβve ever had. Also, the gift shop was beautiful and had many things to find your love ones. If there are any bad reviews on here. Just remember this world is full of all different kinds. And unfortunately, if thereβs anything bad to be said about this facility or its staff, those people probably have to look pretty deep inside themselves first. Thank you very much for having us once again I have a very strong feeling that the mine will not be shut down for many many years to come as the mine might not have much copper left in it but it sure does have a lot of gold to be found in side....
Β Β Β Read moreWe visited this museum on our last day camping on our first trip of the 2021 season. We had seen the place over the years and it's restoration.
We did the mine tour, the inside of the mill coming to life and walked the entire place. The rumbling audio almost makes it feel like there is a few working lines up there like in a real factory today. Would have been quite a site to see the lights shining into the night.
The stories, photos and memories shared here are something else. The mine closed a good ten years before I was born (85) and to think of a life from a child until an adult with only a boat as the means to leave is wild! From being required to shop at the two local places for everything to the interesting stories of how the married men didn't want the single men mingling with their wives for obvious reasons.
The woman that was leading our guided tour was very well versed in the tour and had plenty of extra knowledge. She was I believe Australian and was quick to answer my question about using dynamite in the mines and me being curious about how using the explosive would burn out all the candles.
This was a great break from Covid for a short bit and I would recommend it to families as the children on our tour really enjoyed themselves and were answering questions for us.
The end of the 'Live' machines show with a video there is a woman who comes on (audio only) and gives a very sad and somber ending. I forgot her name! She spoke of how throughout her entire life she had seen those lights and heard the noise and when they finally shut it all off so many were left sad, worried and without that feeling of home. Because once the road was completed that was the end of their small and tight...

Our 4year old enjoyed activity stations throughout - circling a giant dump truck, Gold panning, working the grinding machines and seeing curious rock and crystal formations in the exhibit. A friendly staff member/host, Zack, was patrolling the exhibits to share tidbits on featured activity stations and walk visitors through any questions without feeling we were loomed over by a tour guide. The train ride through the tunnel was fun and the Boom! Experience was just wonderful - our host that day, Derrick, told a captivating and enjoyable story about the Britannia mine and really hallmarked its historical relevance. Great multisensory experience with special FX brought the mine to life. Staff were helpful even though it was a busy long weekend, Admissions seemed a little overwhelmed though, but understandable with the volume of visitors that day - we waited in line about 15 mins, still not bad. The train ride overbooked a little but the team there made it work and ensured good customer experience and satisfaction in spite of a small faux pas for some of the visitors. Chatterbox cafe was conveniently located within the area and had a few pastries, snacks, sandwiches and drinks if anyone needs a bite. Highly recommend planning a visit next time you...
