Hidden just a left turn off the Sea to Sky highway when driving back towards Vancouver, you'll stumble upon the Mountain Woman Take-Out, a true treasure for any weary traveler. It's no more than a quaint bus turned diner, an unassuming gem against the breathtaking backdrop of Howe Sound. Yet, it's in its simplicity that Mountain Woman becomes a necessary pit-stop for anyone journeying down this route. We visited after a hike up the Sea to Summit trail, hunger gnawing and spirits high. We opted for the fish and chips and a side of poutine, accompanied by a simple black coffee. To say our expectations were surpassed would be an understatement. The fish, encased in a light, crispy batter, was remarkably fresh and perfectly paired with their tartar sauce. The chips, golden and well-seasoned, were an excellent sidekick. The poutine was another standout, the perfect comfort food to satiate our hiking-induced hunger. The meal, coupled with the pleasant outdoor patio seating and an unmatched view of Howe Sound, made for an unforgettable experience. We were greeted by friendly staff, quick service, and a genuinely comfortable atmosphere that made us feel right at home. It's the kind of place where even amidst rapid development, it stands resilient, welcoming and nurturing all who come across it. Mountain Woman Take-Out is not just about the food, though it is truly delectable. It's about the experience - an idyllic pit stop amidst the beautiful vistas of the Sea to Sky corridor, where the food is comforting and the atmosphere even more so. Next time, I'm eager to try one of their burgers. I’m sure it will be just as memorable as the fish and chips.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. The real mountain woman is behind the scenes cooking up great food for an unbelievable price. I had a chat with her and she was so nice! I ordered two pieces of fish and a mountain burger. The fish used is red snapper; having caught and eaten fresh red snapper in the Gulf myself I was stoked when she told me what the fish was. It didn't disappoint either, the breading is perfection and snapper delicious! I want more just typing about it. Now the mountain burger; this thing costs $7.50! The value is so so good, the burger was perfectly seared and had a great combo/balance of veggies on it. This mountain woman knows what's up! Was it the best burger ever no but for $7.50 I would happily eat it again and again. My meal came to $19.25 for a burger and two pieces of red snapper that I ate by the ocean after a great hike, it doesn't get better then this. Living in Whistler I won't be able to eat here as much as I'd like but I promise I'll be back soon ✨️

I had the poutine and fish pieces. It was great for the area. My food was served by the owner. She was busy but had a system about her. I had to wait a few minutes to order but it was because she was giving everyone’s food the attention it deserves. Think delicious food truck eats. That’s because, even though there is a store front, the entire employee area is built into an old bus. The poutine was the best I’ve had in the Vancouver area. The fries has skins on them and are perfectly crispy. The curds have plenty of flavor and are well melted by the savory gravy. The fish pieces were amazing. The fish was freshly battered and the batter was incredible. The fish and batter had enough flavor that I didn’t want or need condiments. The only downside was that the tarter sauce tasted like it had a bit too much vinegar. A great small town cookery. Try it out!
