Nice park, sites are not over crowded. Sparse trees as per the nature of the area so not a lot of privacy or shade all the time. Pit toilets are clean, bright white and actually had toilet paper. They also have hefty doors and locks so no latches falling out of wood doors. Nice river front sites, and sites are staggered, so except for the sites closest to the road, you're likely to see the water. There's a path to the water but my knees can't make it. Staff lady was super nice and said people go swimming or just dip their feet in the river to cool off. It's a fast moving river so I wouldn't go far unless you're a strong swimmer, at least as of late June.

Stayed two nights and had a wonderful stay. Reserved a site by the river, spacious level site with some shade from trees. Highway noise was tolerable, the sound of the river was nice. Park staff that came for check in were very friendly. Put toilets were clean and have hand sanitizer. Water from the water pump was very cool and refreshing. If using a tent make sure you have heavy duty tent pegs, the sites are hard packed. Would definitely stay here again.

Provincial campsite with 25 sites along the Similkameen River and Number 3 Hwy in BC. Beautiful location and easy access to the river which we took advantage of on the hot summer days we were there. Since there are only 25 sites, camper noise was limited which was nice. Road noise was noticeable but didn’t bother us too much. Only pit toilets and you need to pump your own water.

The park itself looked great and time by the river was really peaceful. That said, we ended up in site 10 which i think is the worst in the park for 2 reasons: noise and exposure.

The freeway noise was non-stop and definitely kept us up at night. There also appears to be a logging site across the street so logging trucks are entering and exiting the freeway with great noise from dawn till dusk. Majorly detracted from the tranquility of the site and the lake.

Site 10 itself was in a unique spot off to the side that lacked any sort of shade from noon till about 7:30pm. This was kinda annoying during our stay when highs were in the mid 20s but i can’t imagine what it is like in the mid 30s. As it was we spent the afternoon by the river and even hung out at another vacant campsite to eat an afternoon snack. A campsite you have to leave for most of the afternoon/evening was not what i was looking for.

In all it’s a great little park, just be super careful which spot you pick. Any down by the river should...

it is an interesting park , i didn't do my research fully to understand the layout of the park. so the park is located just off of the highway. some of the spots are by the road so it was very weird , not many trees so not very private ... you can see and hear the cars go by. i was sleeping on my car so i felt very uncomfortable. thankfully, i asked the camp workers to give me another spot ( there were a few that weren't taken) , i chose one a across my spot but there was one in the back by the river and they gave that to me .. i am very thankful for them for accommodating my needs. the spot by the river was amazing you can hear the river flow by it is just amazing . so i will say 5 stars if you are staying by the river 2-3 stars if you are staying by the road. and the toilet is a bit gross full of flys when you open the toilet lid...but the toilet sit and the bathroom is pretty clean anyway i want to thank the park workers again for...

Our campsite itself merits more of a 2/5 as it was RIGHT next to the highway and we were often woken at night by loud semis going by (even with ear plugs). There is also sparse shade as mentioned in other reviews, which makes it near impossible to hang around camp for the majority of the day. HOWEVER, the river and rocky beach area made up for that in leaps and bounds. The water was lovely and cool - perfect for sitting in all day if desired. The area is also a 10-20 minute drive to Keremeos and Cawston, both neat towns with ample fruit stands, wineries and cideries to explore.

Would come back just for the river - but would make sure to grab a site on the lower level, and in the shade. The park is very well taken care of, with clean toilets and large sites, but absolutely recommend against the ones near the highway (for context, we were at site 9 and it was one of the shadiest on the...
