My sister and I drove 4.5 hours to hike the Berg Lake trail with my dog. As my dog was sitting there a couple gestured at her to pet her and she got excited and she jumped at them for attention. Keep in mind she was leashed so she never actually jumped on them. Meanwhile the old woman at the visitor desk barked at me to "control my dog" which was very rude especially since I had already been waiting in line for fifteen plus minutes while she continuously blabbed to the people in front of me about stuff that had nothing to do with the area (other costumers were getting annoyed by this point and I would also like to say I had reached for my dog immediately after she started to get excited. I do not allow her to jump on people). Then in the middle of her giving me directions to the campground, she was clearly much less enthusiastic to speak to me then the people in front of me to the point where she switched with the other girl telling her she "wanted to leave now" instead of finishing with instructions. I don't know if it's because I look young to her and she thinks she can act in an arrogant way, but because she decided to get up and leave in the middle of speaking to me the instructions were very jumbled. It also gave me a lack of opportunity to confront her personally about her poor attitude. The younger girl, on the other hand, was very polite and friendly. Also many people were very please with how well trained my dog actually was during the entire hike. The hike itself is beautiful. I would have liked to make it an overnight trip so it wasn't so exhausting, but couldn't because I had a dog with me (which is fine that dogs are not permitted overnight on that trail, I do understand). It does give me bragging rights that we did it...
Read moreThe Mount Robson Visitor Centre is much more than just a quick stop – it's an experience in itself and a definite must-visit if you're in the area. We were truly impressed with everything it had to offer! Downstairs, they have a really nice exhibit that provides fascinating insights into the park and its natural history. It's well-designed and engaging. On the upper level, you'll find a lovely gift shop stocked with a great selection of souvenirs, but the real showstopper up here is the gorgeous view you get right from inside! Just next door, there's another building where you can grab even more gifts or some food if you're feeling hungry, which is super convenient. The people working at the centre seemed genuinely nice and helpful too, adding to the positive atmosphere. But for us, the absolute highlight was the very nice outdoor deck on the back of the building. This is the spot for some extra special pictures of Mount Robson – the views are absolutely unparalleled from there. Overall, whether you're just passing through or planning to explore the park, the Mount Robson Visitor Centre is a fantastic place to stop, learn, shop, and soak in some truly...
Read moreIf you're visiting the area and want information, don't bother stopping here. Its not actually a welcome centre, just a glorified gift store. I tried asking a member of staff for information about trails other than the two waterfall tracks listed on the sign inside, but he was interrupted by his extremely condescending co-worker/manager. She explained they were no longer going to be talking to visitors, and that they were only there to operate the registers for the gift store as they were too busy preparing for the upcoming trail reopening next week. She then told off the staff member who had initially tried to help me in front of all three people in the store (it wasnt remotely busy) before repeatedly asking if I could read her poorly written sign about the trails I'd already asked about. Im perfectly capable of reading, it just wasn't remotely helpful. I feel genuinely sorry for the poor guy who was belittled in front of us for trying to do his job, if you read this, please do yourself a favour and quit as soon as possible so you don't have to deal with that...
