Most of the artists are great- they are the one of the only reasons to visit. Go directly upstairs. As the person who supervised all of their weddings from 2019-2022 (I was also the daily caretaker) I highly recommend you find another event venue. The property manager is The Ultimate Karen and yes she will be attending your event! They seem to have realized how damaging her general spirit is (the complaints post events were a plenty!)to the place and now you can have the luxury of having a man who excelled in the restaurant industry (two years in and still no restaurant at The Mill as promised though!) give you a tour where he pretends to have any care for or access to creativity. Prepare to stroke the ego of a very insecure white man who once had the illusion of power and is now crippled without the lies of control to wrap himself in. Welcome to the corporate art world- the place is run by people with price tags for a soul. Worth visiting and seeing the actual art on the top floor or the mini museum in the basement. Do not let them rob you for a venue. Do not make the mistake of working for them. I was let to give my life and passion to a job and role that was unfairly taken from me at a time I had asked for and truly needed a bit of kindness and understanding. I am not the first one. The man before me successfully sued them- I was far too trusting and hopeful and ignorant to believe him when he warned me. For those of you still unaware- the art world is full of rich people who want a piece of the creative pie without any of the suffering that accompanies expression. Definitely lots of spirits in there though- worth checking out the Turbine Room, top of the tower (just pull the rope and stairs will come down, there is no security- exert your freewill and go wherever you can), and the Riverside Room (give the piano a hug and tell her I miss her for me). Plenty of longterm evidence to support my claims....
Read moreMy wife and I got married in October 2024 at Alton, where we had both our ceremony and reception. From start to finish, Samantha and Martin were exceptional in their communication and collaboration, ensuring that every detail was perfect and that our wedding day matched our vision.
Alton offers a variety of beautiful spaces that make it a perfect choice for any couple. We held our ceremony in the picturesque open field next to the annex, and our reception in the charming annex itself. To cap off the night, we celebrated in the Millrace Room. Each space had its own unique character and atmosphere, and our guests were blown away by the beauty and charm of the venue.
The attention to detail, the warm hospitality, and the distinctive features of Alton truly made it a one-of-a-kind location for our wedding. It's a place that will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we look forward to visiting it for years to come. We can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for a wedding venue that’s as unique and unforgettable as their...
Read moreWe had our wedding planned for 6 months in advance to be ready for our big day, The events coordinator, was so unorganised,( she must be new) because she certainly is not very professional when it comes to customer service or satisfaction, as well as setting up wedding venues at there establishment. Not only did she state in her email correspondence that all we had to do is give a number to hold the date for first refusal, she never followed up as she said she would on a monthly basis, she gave the date away before consulting us, and was very rude when it came to dealing with the situation she created, kindly telling us is was our fault for trusting her. I would look else where when booking a wedding venue, unless you want to be extremely disappointed by dealing...
