Gather Café is truly a hidden gem, tucked away in the heart of Alton Town. I'm almost reluctant to share this treasure because its charm lies in its exclusivity—this is a place that feels like a well-kept secret, offering an authentic slice of Canada that you don't often find.
My visit to Gather Café was serendipitous; after a peaceful walk by the nearby river, we stumbled upon this spot, and it turned out to be the highlight of our day. The atmosphere here is as genuine as it gets, with a welcoming vibe that makes you feel like a local, even if you aren't.
The food is simply outstanding. Their locally baked pizza is a revelation—so flavorful and fresh that it makes all the big chain pizzas pale in comparison. Every bite was a delight, and I can confidently say it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The loaves they offer are equally divine, made with fresh ingredients and baked to perfection.
But what really sets Gather Café apart is the locally brewed beer, Caledon Hills. It’s as good, if not better, than any big-brand beer out there. The taste is crisp, refreshing, and uniquely local—definitely a must-try.
Situated right at the center of town, Gather Café seems to be the go-to spot for locals, and it’s easy to see why. The ambiance, the food, the location—everything about this place is amazing. It’s a rare find, and while I’m tempted to keep it all to myself, this is one experience that’s too good not to share. If you’re ever in Alton Town, make sure you stop by—you...

First the bagel was narrow leaving a gapping hole in the middle of the sandwich. The bagel wasn't toasted there fore the nice crunch was absent. Plus I've been spoiled with fresh, local grown tomatoes and the ones on the sandwich were reminiscent of the less authentic variety. So the food gets a 3 stars the rest a 5 for I'm leaving a 4 star review ChatGPT said: Here’s a polished version of your review:
Gather Cafe in Alton is an amazing space with a welcoming atmosphere. Brooke was incredibly helpful and friendly, making the experience even better. However, the breakfast bagel didn’t quite hit the mark. The bagel was narrow, leaving a noticeable gap in the middle of the sandwich, and it wasn’t toasted, so it lacked that satisfying crunch. Additionally, the tomatoes on the sandwich felt less fresh than what I’m used to from local, homegrown produce.
Overall, I’d give the food 3 stars, but the space, service, and vibe a solid 5. Leaving a...
Read moreMy husband and I are staying at the Millcroft Inn and on the way into Alton we passed a sign that said Wood Fired Pizzas. We were curious and found out that Gather Cafe is the place to go!
Gather Cafe makes the best pizza we have had in years! Fire wood oven. Thin crust. Fresh ingredients (they even make their own pizza dough). Fast service. Quaint location. Need I say more? I ordered the Sweet Smokey Pear and my husband ordered the Nice to MEAT ya. Both were amazing! The mix of the salty prosciutto, the smoked cheese, and the sweetness of the pear and balsamic…Mmmmmm!
This café also sells their own desserts, bakery items, and they also support a local bakery that makes fresh pasta. Last, but not least, they’re licensed and they support local breweries and wineries. It’s great they support local!...
