The discovery Centre was a good experience and we applaud their effort to share their culture. The staff was friendly and the grounds well kept. We were offered a choice of a self tour or guided one; and did the self tour. I would suggest some sort of exhibit being put together which shows a simple chronological history/experience of their treck from Russia to Canada and from Saskatchewan to BC at the beginning. Also some info on "the Doukhobor Issue" and the loss/abandonment of land and why the split with the original group. All in all well worth the ticket price. THE VILLIAGE BISTRO The Borshch at the newly opened Village Bistro was GREAT!...... and the staff friendly but unfortunately the menu overpriced & portions small. Having to leave the dining room and go outside to a different part of the building to access the washrooms was also inconvenient and kinda weird. Like one of those old fashioned gas stations.

This is a wonderful place to visit. For a synopsis of the stories of the live's of Duokhobor's and of their amazing ways and of how this community of people lived when they first immigrated from Russia, of their ability to build and construct and grow into the culture of Canada, and some of the truthfulness of their stories. It's not all about them gathering as a group and taking off their clothes and dancing around burning buildings, as some people perceive them to be. They were and are a wholesome group of people, and this village is a good testament to that. A good time to visit is during there Borshch cook off, which they have in the fall. You will get to meet some of the local people and have a taste of the good hearty traditional soup, one I was fortunate to grow up on, Borshch. Well worth a visit!

This is so impressive. I knew the Doukhobor by reputation but never knew what they were about. To summsrize: they will not fight. War is stupid and against God's will. And they took the ridiculous consequences of this admirable stand. They were expelled, haunted, imprisoned. Go and see this place and let them inspire you

I have dreamed about visiting the place for a long time. Read everything I could find on Doukhobors and had millions of questions - and the staff gave me answers to 95% of them except for very specific ones! The guy in the gift shop is a perfect source of information regarding anything on Doukhobors! They really keep the heritage alive in...
