Montgomery Park (Formerly Cavendish Heritage Park) — Attraction in Cavendish

We found this gem of a park situated adjacent to the Green Gables Heritage Place by walking through the Haunted Wood trail behind the Green Gables House. Formerly Cavendish Heritage Park to commemorate the founding families of Cavendish by Scottish settlers, including William Simpson and sons, it was renamed to Montgomery Park as a tribute to Lucy M. Montgomery. Great place for a picnic and short stroll to learn more about the famous author and founding families of Cavendish. The Cavendish Cemetery and MacNeill Homestead are next door. I think I just broke a bone in my hand on the washroom door here. Beware there is an aluminum hook on the inside door at door handle level. When the door forcefully swung closed behind me it smashed my hand. Incredibly poor design I’m pretty pissed off right now I hope I don’t need a cast. Pleasant and well maintained park with additional history out LM Montgomery. This park includes her statue, covered/shaded picnic tables and two swings (fun for kids and adults!). 6 benches and a gazebo. You can start at this park and follow a trail to the Cavendish home site as well as the current Green Gables post office, which has both Green Gables history and a seasonal operating post office...
