We had the worst experience visiting the park today. When we arrived at the entrance to the parking lot in the morning, an employee asked us to turn left because the lot was full. We turned and noticed there was a parking lot in the back with empty spaces, so we made a u-turn and entered that parking lot( outside of the park). While we were there, we noticed a couple cars entered the park’s parking lot. We wondered why could they enter not us. So we turned around to the entrance, the employee turned us away again, saying there was no space left, we had to leave immediately to not block others. So we turned left and saw a few cars after us entered without any problem. We were puzzled. So we drove around and back to the entrance, of course we were turned away. When we asked why we saw at least five cars entered but we were always refused, he said those cars were employees! While we were talking, cars were exiting the parking lot. There was for sure spots available, in the end, he let us in and said I will remember you. So we entered and there were quite a few spots available . When we parked our car, another employee approached and asked us to leave. According to his words, we were not nice to the guy in the front, so we have to go. This is absurd and by far the worst Park experience I had in Quebec. When we were treated unfairly and stood up for ourselves , we were kicked away from the park. This is not a welcoming park and we felt deeply offended by the...
Read moreWill be going back often! Didn’t even get to hike 10% of this trail because I went with my 4 yrs old and he was IN LOVE with the kids playground that’s not far from the main entrance and you know what… so was I 😍😍😍 the wooden okay structures, the big “pirate ship” that had all kinds of climbing and balancing areas, the view!!!!! Wow! Felt like I was somewhere else entirely looking out to the river , the blue sky and the trees blowing in the wind. It was just great! But I will be back to explore further! So much greenery, life and just picturesque place to be!
The trail is a loop, you have maps throughout the park at different points to keep you on track and different paths with different hiking lengths and views.
This park is known for its nature and bird watching/feeding. There are also turtle grates where they help turtles create their nests and hatch. I did not spot any.
Also at the main entrance you can buy sandwiches, snacks and treats with coffee ☕️😍 for your day here!
There are benches and picnic areas in the playground zone, I believe there are eating zones throughout the park. :)
Overall 10/10 will be back again with the...
Read moreIn 2011 I attended aa three day retreat with the QWF from Montreal at the Maision de Margurite d'Youville which had formerly (two years earlier) been a convent on the tip of the island which is a bird sanctuary. The Chatauguy River passes through the land on one side and Lac St. Louis sits all around the rest. What a heaven that place was to take seminar sessions with Shelley Lehdahl. The food was extremely good in March or April; the apple orchard was in bloom. I went back in the summer of 2014 to just touch that sacred space again and see if it was real--it still is and was FULL of Canadian geese on that occasion. I never visited while the pool was open or beach in service--but unless prices have skyrocketed, I'd love to stay over for a weekend again. I still remember the local choir singing for their own retreat the weekend I was there. Easy to say it felt as if we'd died and...
