If you're looking for a cool thing to do with your family, consider the Colbalt Museum and mines. It's an educational tour, that takes you back in time.

Entering the mine is such a treat, and may not be an option in years to come; as many of the mines are closed to the public. The tour in the mine is only takes about 15 minutes, however, the guide is highly informative. You'll be amazed at the amount of work miners did with their bare hands, and astonished at their working conditions. When we visited, our family received a private tour, as we were the only guests. This allowed us to ask many questions.

After your tour with the guide, take a drive and check out the other mine sites. You can visit a mine that is so cold that it perpetually pumps out a fine mist on a hot summer's day and another that has crumbled to ruins.

Look for the metal dragon and sculptures in the rocks. Visit the museum where you will find old relics and a room with glowing rocks. The museum sells souvenirs, and the little town offers a small downtown...

I have been going to the Cobalt Mining Museum now for about 35 years. It has always been a must stop on my many trips to Cobalt, and the museum and staff have been a great source of information in my ongoing quest to know about the stories and history of Cobalt. During Covid, the staff and volunteers gave the museum a major update, and I was VERY impressed with the changes. Excellent story telling, and a more diverse story, including some of the warts and dark stories of the past. The museum is definitely worth the visit. If you visited the museum pre-Covid, and are in the area, go back! The museum is DEFINITELY worth a return visit. And stay tuned ... the staff and volunteers have plans to continue improving some of the displays. The underground tour at the Colonial Mine is also excellent and worth the time. As they same ... come for a day, discover a century. A visit to Cobalt, including the Mining Museum, Colonial Tour, and the Heritage Silver Trail are all...

complete waste of time. staff don't know the components of their own museum (I asked how to activate the audio for the section at the very back and received blank stares), and it was about 15 minutes before the tour was meant to start when we were informed that if we didn't have our own vehicle, we were out of luck. purchasing the tickets an hour before touring wasn't enough time for someone with, allegedly, 5 years of experience to confirm that we had our own transportation as they assume all customers come from out of town via car and they can't bring you in their company vehicles. we spent the money instead at the haileybury fire museum and had a...

We were camping in the area and happened upon this as something to do. The museum was much bigger than I had expected and had a lot of information on various topics related to local mining history. They also have the tour in the mine which was an unexpected addition. Both the museum staff and tour guide were friendly and knowledgeable. I'm a vlogger and was able to take lots of great footage inside the mine as well! The museum also has a map available of all the different mine sites and some locals recommended we check that out and it was super cool as well. I highly recommend doing all the sites, especially if you don't know much about the areas history.

Excellent museum to learn about the mining history of the Cobalt area. What is the link between the Eastman Kodac film company and the mines of the Cobalt area? You will have to go to the Cobalt Mining Museum to find out! Love the renovations to the display rooms.
