This is one of the best museums on Vancouver Island and is worth a visit. I could have easily spent 3 or 4 hours here, but my family dragged me away after an hour. There is just a ton of information and fine detail in the various exhibits, and the reading room has a lot of interesting books that are very hard to find. My favourite parts of the museum included the Argus display, as well as the section that talked about the Voodoo and the nuclear-tipped Genie missile -- In particular the museum showed that Canada was ready to engage in "nuclear combat, toe to toe with the Russkies." Read moreGreat place to lose yourself for an hour or so. Kids will find it boring, but anyone wanting to know more about Canada's history in air warfare, and involvement in wartime activities will surely find this interesting to visit.
I would have liked more interactive displays, but as this museum seems to rely heavily on volunteers, I can see how this may not be possible to invest in... They need to find some "new blood" to recognize any innovations in this regard.
The air park is a separate area from the museum and is free to wander.
Plenty of free parking....
