This is one of the best museums on Vancouver Island and is worth a visit. I could have easily spent 3 or 4 hours here, but my family dragged me away after an hour. There is just a ton of information and fine detail in the various exhibits, and the reading room has a lot of interesting books that are very hard to find. My favourite parts of the museum included the Argus display, as well as the section that talked about the Voodoo and the nuclear-tipped Genie missile -- In particular the museum showed that Canada was ready to engage in "nuclear combat, toe to toe with the Russkies." CFB Comox was home to a variety of nuclear interceptors, including the Voodoo, which was armed with the nuclear-tipped...

Enjoyed this gem of a museum. There are fascinating models, real example pieces from different eras, and great information about the birth and development of military aviation in Canada. Wish I could have spent several hours there! Payment by donation, and a nice little gift shop where I picked up a mug and purchased another as a gift for a friend. Informative, well laid out, and a good spot to visit in Comox. We stopped to get photos in the ejection seat from a CF-101 Voodoo. I had never heard of the Japanese balloons bombs before, and though I knew about Billy Bishop (who shot down the Red Baron) I was unfamiliar with our other ace pilots...who you can learn about at this...

Great place to lose yourself for an hour or so. Kids will find it boring, but anyone wanting to know more about Canada's history in air warfare, and involvement in wartime activities will surely find this interesting to visit.

I would have liked more interactive displays, but as this museum seems to rely heavily on volunteers, I can see how this may not be possible to invest in... They need to find some "new blood" to recognize any innovations in this regard.

The air park is a separate area from the museum and is free to wander.

Plenty of free parking....

Incredible museum! So many well-preserved artefacts and interesting displays, and lots of info about the RCAF as well as more personal stories about individual service members/squadrons over the last 100+ years. Definitely worth a visit if you have any interest in the history of the RCAF or Canada's involvement in WWII and beyond. The entrance fee is a pay-what-you-can donation to the museum itself. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a small gift shop with items for adults as well as children. Overall a great spot to spend an hour or so!

Small from the outside but packed with plenty of local and international information on the history of aviation during war, this museum was a great stop. The museum itself is on the airbase and visiting is by donation. The exhibits cover from WWI to the Cold War and some of present day. It gives a really good look into Canada's involvement and contributions, as well as the advancements made over time. Neighbouring to the museum is the Heritage Airpark with planes and helicopters to view. A very interesting and informative museum.
