CFB Comox Combine Mess — Restaurant in Comox

The food at the CFB Comox mess is actually pretty good — no complaints there. But starting Canada Day, they’re introducing a ridiculous policy: no cash or card payments, and it’s supposed to last until December. That’s six months where you can’t pay like a normal person. This affects civilian contractors on base, who don’t have access to the internal payment system. If you're not military and not set up with their specific method, you're basically out of luck.

It’s frustrating, short-sighted, and completely unnecessary. Good food doesn’t matter if people can’t buy it. Bring back normal payment options — this setup is a mess.

Update: 15 Sept 25. Will only be accepting ration cards for the foreseeable future....

One always expects that food in a military establishment to be like what they in the the TV series MASH.

Not in this place! Good solid eats and a good selection make this place a good place to go to grab a quick bite.

This mess was one of the best I have been to! Great atmosphere, the staff friendly and extremely accommodating, and the food exceptional!
