The Montreal Murugan Temple, located in Quebec, is a significant Saivite temple and a key cultural hub for the Tamil Hindu community in Canada. Established in 1983, it is the first of its kind in the province. The temple features a central shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan, flanked by sanctums for Lord Ganesha and Lord Venkateswara. It is renowned for its vibrant festivals and rituals that attract devotees from diverse backgrounds.

The annual Chariot Festival (Ther Thiruvizha) is a major highlight, celebrated with great pomp. Thousands of devotees gather to participate in the processions, which feature traditional music, elaborate decorations, and devotional offerings. The event includes a flag-hoisting ceremony and multi-day festivities culminating in the grand chariot pull. The celebrations reflect Tamil cultural heritage and bring together the wider Montreal community for spiritual and cultural enrichment.

The temple has received praise for its serene atmosphere and welcoming nature, making it a popular destination for both worshippers and tourists interested in experiencing Hindu traditions. Visitors also appreciate its well-maintained premises and the community-oriented programs organized...

Super unwelcoming to new guests. Completely rude and disrespectful. How do you expect newcomers to experience and learn about the religion and culture when you’re not opened to new possibilities. I understand about customs and norms HOWEVER YOUR TEMPLE IS LOCATED IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE!!! it is completely normal for westerners to NOT KNOW THE CUSTOMS AND NORMS. We do not come in disrespect but in curiousity and love!!! Ive been to many temples where the devotees and people in the temple do not shame on the guests but rather teach them than bash and...

I recently visited the Murugan Temple with my family, and it was a beautiful experience. The temple itself is incredibly peaceful, with an atmosphere that invites calm and reflection. We performed a special pooja for our brand-new vehicle, which made the visit even more meaningful. The temple staff were very cooperative, guiding us through the rituals with care and patience. It was also a great opportunity to meet new people, as the community there was warm and welcoming. Overall, the visit was not just spiritually fulfilling but also a chance to connect...

This is a very beautiful temple 🛕 . We arrived at 10 am and spent around 3 hrs . It was a special occasion of the two weeks festival (started on August 4th), we visited on Aug 5th. It was a divinely experience 😀. The prayers, chanting mantras, and Dhol, sounds of other instruments were amazingly great. Praise for the devotees and priests. They were very polite. Prasadam was served after the Pooja. It was excellent to have such a wonderful time at the temple. Jai shri Ganesha, Jai shri Kartiken . Om Namah Shivay 🕉 Hari Om 🕉 .
