Hamilton Waterfront Trust — Attraction in Hamilton

My family and I went for a day of skating down by the bay. We live within walking distance so we are familiar with the area and all it’s amenities. We love the waterfront trust!

Unfortunately at our trip to the skating rink we were all met with disappointment.

My child has a disability and I needed to get in the ice with them but without any skates on otherwise I’d be on the floor lol.. the Man who supervises the rink told me I was not allowed to get on the ice despite her disability. I was truly shocked and disgusted by this.

I had to walk along the edge of the rink not allowing her to skate freely. The edge of the ice is like a miniature hill and her skates kept getting caught between the ice and the pavement. Making her skates fall off every time she tried to move. (You’d have to skate on the edge to know what I mean it’s almost like rolling your ankle over bc it’s a mini hill and slippery..)

I will only be able to return to the rink when no employees are there so that my child can...

It's looking good, the place has gone through extensive construction through out the last decade and will hopefully look better when all the construction is done. You can go skating there in the winter time, roller skate in the summer, trolley rides were simple and basic, harbor cruises available, good way to see the harbor from the ground and water. Also a Williams cafe on site but don't go there unless you're planning on getting served by idiots that don't know how to take your order. And the manager Victoria just doesn't simply understand customer service. Rude and obnoxious.

Shameful how councilor Jason Farr and his group have treated the employees at the Hamilton Waterfront. My spouse and I go down to the Waterfront often and we were down on the Thanksgiving weekend and talked to some of the employees. These poor people don't know if they will have jobs in the near future or next summer for the summer staff Having to find out about this through the media is disgraceful. This is not a person that we want representing us in Ward 2. Perhaps he doesn't care about the employees in his ward since he does not live there.
