Don’t know what happened but this place was so good and a beautiful way to spend the day and evening. Could work from here an incredible meeting place and remote office. You could even have a nice glass of wine or beer. But now the food is horrible, so along with the the deserts are so dry but the place is now dry and no wine or beer. The Nanaimo bar one of my favourites was so dry and stale, changed it for the brownie same thing. The coffee was horrible they even managed to ruin that too. Along with all these changes the changed staff even seemed to take the similar attention to the food, the service is not like it used to be. I don’t think there was a smile anywhere. Definitely not from the customers. A terrible experience. Update: I returned to the place: Nanaimo bar is back to normal. Staff was way more friendlier actually really nice. I’ve increased my review.

Awful. Slow, loud, dirty and chaotic. Menu is paint-by-numbers, food could be made by robots. Heck, I wish it had been made by robots! At least it would have come on time. Showed up at noon on a Sunday, and as we were ordering we were told it might be twenty to twenty-five minutes for food. THIS PLACE SELLS SANDWICHES, people. SANDWICHES. Ask yourself, how long does it take you to make a sandwich, with a side of barely unfrozen potato wedges, at home? OK whatever, the kids were in an okay mood and we didn't want to bundle them back into a hot car and drive somewhere else, we figured we could keep them occupied while we wait. Forty dollars and over an HOUR of watching seagulls eating off of uncleared plates later, our kids are screaming, we're hangry and one plate of our lackluster food shows up. Ugh. The only reason this place is busy, and still open, is because they're the only place on the Pier 7 boardwalk, unless you want a boiled hotdog or some ice-cream. Save your money, pack a lunch, stay the hell away. What a waste of space.

Met with friends for coffee this morning. The customer service was as usual lackluster to be kind. It seems to be that way with all employees. When walking up to the counter there’s no greeting. I was then sent to the drink counter from my hot chocolates. The girl making the drinks said absolutely nothing to me and had such a scowl on her face, which the friends we were with mentioned as well. The hot chocolates were warm but certainly not hot. My wife was able to drink hers without stopping. Now I normally like the atmosphere but something today would suggest they need to clean better. We were siting on the couches beside the fireplace when I looked between the cushions to find a pile of crumbs. Disgusting!!! My wife did order soup, tomato and red pepper which she did enjoy.

I called to make reservations for 15 people. I was told they don’t do that when the manager is away. She is on vacation for 2 weeks. Seriously you can’t put someone else in charge during this time? This really discouraging. It’s to late to change locations currently or I would. And I won’t go there again. Update: Do not eat here. My group met at the restaurant it was disgusting, dirty, used kleenex on the floor, comb, food. It was extremely hot upstairs, the a/c was broken and there was water dripping from the ceiling. I had to ask staff 3 times for help to clean the table. Staff were standing around talking not interested in working. I will never go back to this location. Disgusting. Oh and my chicken fajitas, had all of 4 pieces of tiny chicken, what a joke.

Cons:The floors were filthy, it appears no one cleaned them for while. The table I sat at had dead flies and cobwebs on the windowsill. The table and bench had residual food on it. The hot chocolate beverage I ordered was lukewarm and made with the cheap chocolate mix you buy at the grocery store. The staff behind the counter were rambunctiously complaining about how much they hate working there. The menu lacked alternative diet options ( this isn't an issue as Williams doesn't claim to be a health based restaurant). Pros: The service was relatively quick. The food was not bad. The ambiance is the selling point; you get a lovely view of the lake and a same town country cafe aura. There is free WiFi. The tables are generously sized.

I've been to Williams a handful of times and always enjoyed my stay. This week I decided to go enjoy a waffle and cappuccino on the patio with my family. Upon arrival we were told the kitchen was closed (it was still an hour until their advertised closing time). Waffles were out of the picture already so we decided on cheesecake and a slice of chocolate cake. I asked if they make cappuccinos and the worker said yes. Another worker comes around the corner and let's us know unfortunately it seems they were in the process of cleaning their espresso machine so they wouldn't be able to make one. I ended up leaving with a really badly made coffee and some old slices of cake. We did still enjoy the patio and company.
