Prices aren't advertised, but they're reasonably priced for an activity center. My boyfriend and I purchased a combo deal that cost about $20 for mini golf (regular price $10.50), a round of go-karts and 20 tokens (25c each).
Overall, you can tell the place is aging, but it's a decent facility. I was not able to try the outdoor mini golf course, but it had cool decor.
I tried the indoor jungle mini golf - the 18-hole course was pretty standard. The decor was average (kids would definitely love it though) as some of the things were falling apart (not noticeable unless you're looking for it). The starting position for the golf balls are indented, so I advise not using them unless you want the ball to roll back.
My experience with the go-karts were bad. The course itself was fun, but they don't provide hairnets for helmets and the karts were low quality. They were bumpy, something you could definitely tell if you were trying to go full speed. One of the ladies left the course (either got kicked off or wanted to leave) and all the go karts stopped working. We weren't told why, and it definitely cut into our playtime. Also, I'm a petite person and even though I strapped myself in the kart, I couldn't go fast as I felt myself bumping around in the seat. I never had that problem with the karts in Calgary. Even if you're not petite, the bumping from the go-karts was extremely uncomfortable.
Lastly, the arcades. Lots of games to select from, and the ones that were completely busted were some of the fighting games, and all of the pinball machines. The ones that were working were a hit-or-miss; generally they all worked. The other reviews may be outdated, as I was expecting most of the machines to be busted. Sometimes when you put tokens in, it got stuck in the slot. If you tap the area, your coin will fall in...but beware that this does happen (although every arcade tends to have these types of problems).
The retro game selection was great, most cost about 1-2 tokens. When my boyfriend played these games, they did only cost 25c...but hey, inflation. Didn't get a chance to play all the different games, but I'd be interested in going back to play.
I can't say too much about the ticket games, as I'm not really interested in those when I go to an arcade. We did take a look around and the selection wasn't that great (compared to semi-interesting ones at Cineplex theaters for example).
Overall: Prices for activities are average (based off Calgary prices) Indoor mini-golf wasn't super exciting Go-kart course was decent, but the karts itself weren't Arcade has a lot of selection, worked for the most part, and weren't outrageously priced
Would go again if I had the chance (but probably just for...
Read moreA key issue since the change over to the play cards vs token system.
I wanted to keep this away from google reviews but unfortunately there is no contact email to be found on there website.
This is coming from someone who would frequent your arcade 2-3 times per month.
Ironically enough I think the play cards are a great move. There was no wait time in line for what used to be tokens, no keeping track of tickets, no jammed up machines, and from an overall business stand point it completely makes sense to have them so that more modern games can be brought in. As much as many loved the nostalgia of tokens and tickets, eventually things needed to shift.
Now for the not so great. Below the Owner has made it very clear in there responses that the cost has not increased but in fact has lessened. The "tokens" are now 0.25 cents each versus the 0.33 cents before. As much as this sounds like great savings over multiple tokens, with the increase in game prices and a new minimum of 4 tokens per game things have become more expensive. For example any of the shooting games ( The walking dead zombie game is one of our sons favorites) have gone from 4 tokens per person, to 8 per person. So using your math of the lowering of token cost, we are now being charged 2 dollars per person, vs 1.32 per person previously. I am not sure how you can say the game prices have not increased when the math is clear. It was not just that one game either, multiple games have seen an increase.
I can understand the transition taking time and not all machines functioning, I think this is a no brainer when coming to any arcade. Regularly there will be a game or two down anywhere you go.
I am not the only one who thinks the price increase will hinder them returning. It has been discussed across various platforms and discussed among parents. What used to be a fun cheap outing has now ultimately changed. $20-30 bucks just does not last as long as it used to, and in the end like stated below will likely continue to push people away and head down the road to Energy Plex where there money will go further.
Prices have gone up across the board no matter where you go. That unfortunately is just the reality of things at the moment. I think most of the confusion and frustration could have been easily resolved with staff educating customers or some form of notice being put up around the establishment. Unfortunately the owner has chosen to be-little people who have spoken up as a way of educating people of...
Read moreI have visited Scandia on many occasions and usually have a lovely experience so decided to host my sons birthday party there. I booked the party over a month before the date, was informed no deposit was required I was booked for three tables in the party room. I called the Tues before the party (4 days before the date of the booking) to confirm the booking again, that I would have a place to plug in food warmers for the hot dogs for the party and find out if I needed to put a deposit down as I was told one wasn't required at time of booking. I was again informed no deposit was needed, I could bring my food warmer that there would be place to plug them in and I was booked for 12:30 in the party room on the Sunday. I arrived Sunday at the time of my booking only to find the entire party room full and when I asked how this happened was informed that a staff member had decided to have a party there, apparently this means my booking didn't matter... The staff attempted at the request of the manager to put our party of over 24 people and two small round tables and informed me I can move to the party room when the other party left, the staff was unable to give me a time when that would be other than when they decided to leave. The manager didn't bother to even come and talk to me despite watching the staff attempting to deal with the situation instead he made her go back and forth between us.The staff then attempted to put us outside, to accommodate my party size, at picnic tables not suited to host a party (no place to set up anything for the party or seat all of us together). When the staff eventually got two of the three party table I booked in the party room cleaned off there was no time to set anything up before guest arrived, they didn't even know where we were located in the establishment as the information given was in the party room as it should have been. The entire situation was completely unacceptable. The staff should have never been left to deal with this and the manager was beyond unprofessional and didn't even offer an apology just watched it all play out and when the information for the owner was requested we were informed they can't give that information. I have had so many wonderful experiences at this establishment that I was completely shocked at what happened and how it...
