Normally I would give this place 4 or 5 stars We’ve been members here for only 6 months and today we had a very poor customer service experience. Previously the staff have been very engaging and welcoming. Today, I must say, we have never felt so unwelcome in any service establishment like we were today. I called ahead to make a tasting reservation and was told come anytime as they wouldn’t be busy. We arrived just at 3 pm. Upon opening the door, the three staff were sitting at the front desk and we were not greeted. We felt like we were interrupting their conversation . I would have expected “Hi! Welcome to Tawse! My name is ….. are you here for a tasting?” There were no other patrons in the winery at the time . Instead we had to sheepishly ask and let them know we are members. The dark haired young lady took us to the tasting bar and just put the menus in front of us without any friendly engagement at all about our wine likes /dislikes, etc, maybe could have been a bit about where we had been that day, where were we from etc. We have quite a bit of wine knowledge as we have been studying our WSETs for a few years now., so we decided on a few. She quietly poured them without giving any background on the varietals, nor did she offer us any water. I asked if they had a snack menu, which was quickly offered up. We decided we would take our tasting paddles to the courtyard as it was a beautiful day . There were two other tables of 2 and 4 there as well. The same young lady brought us our order and presented it yet didn’t ask us how we were doing, what did we think of the wines so far, any questions, etc. She proceeded to clean up a couple other tables and then walked right past us again. After 10 minutes she came out and asked if we would like anything else, we politely declined. She was wearing a Redstone T-shirt ( their sister winery) and I asked her how long she had worked at Tawse she said “a year and a half” without further engagement. We went in to pay and use the washrooms. My husband and I both have worked in the service industry our whole lives and we have NEVER felt so unwelcomed in any winery like we were today. The staff behaved like they did not want patrons today. Moray would not be pleased. I hope it’s a one off as we have not experienced this kind of treatment at this winery previously. We usually stop in monthly and have a great time, especially engaging with their musical talent, and their winemaker Jessica. In the end I’m sure Google reviews mean nothing to...

Came for a visit recently with a group of 4, not overly impressed with the customer service. Service was underwhelming and none of the staff seemed to make an effort to engage us at all. We weren’t even greeted when we entered. We went inside and inquired about the flights and were told we could either place our order inside, or wait outside at a table and someone would come by to take our order. We waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually we went back inside to see about our order, and asked again what the process for ordering is. The gentleman we were talking to was about to explain, however he was cut off from a female employee, who stated that we need to order inside. This is completely different from what we were told originally. The staff did not seem overly friendly or attentive, which had an impact on our overall experience here. The flights were reasonably priced, and we weren’t offered any kind of food or snack menu. The staff didn’t seem they could be bothered to answer our questions, so we finished our flight and left immediately after. I found the wine and other spirits to be a bit overpriced. The ice wine was pretty good, but I didn’t end up buying anything from this place at the time. They did have live music outside, which was nice. The customer service is severely lacking, however. I will be choosing other wineries in the future to visit...

Lovely experience. We travel to this area yearly and always try to visit smaller vineyards but another vineyard employee recommended checking out Tawse. We did and we are so glad! Gorgeous property. All staff were so welcoming the second we walked in. Gorgeous patio/garden/courtyard area. There was a live musician who was incredible (wish I caught his name but this was May 4th, 2024) if anyone knows him. We visited 7 wineries this day and it was the only one with live entertainment. Best Riesling I tried the whole weekend. Annette was the one who looked after us and she was so sweet, so welcoming and so knowledgeable. We asked about bring our own food in, since their kitchen wasn’t open. She wasn’t sure so she recommend we grab a picnic table just off the patio (we could still listen to the live music and enjoy the view) and she brought us out our glasses of wine to enjoy with our own snacks. She was amazing. All the staff were friendly. Don’t skip this place on the basis of it being a “bigger” winery. Worth the visit for so...

Went with my friend back in March. The staff were great a 5/5 for them. It is unfortunate that they've discontinued the icewine production due to weather change which is a shame because their 2013 Chardonnay Icewine is pretty much their gift from heaven up there (apple, pear, honey with a very good acidity so it doesn't cloy). It is a once in a few decade vintage, and now it's no longer available. (Hence, minus 1 star. Haha) The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon icewine: also a bargain ( cherry, raspberry, etc) but hard to compare to 2013. Had to bottle decant it for at least 1hr before it started to open up. 2019 Tintern Pinot Noir: it's a medium body pinot noir with mineral, cherry, white pepper. A solid 91 points. 2021 Cherry avenue: weaker intensity than the 2019 probably due to the weak vintage.

They do mostly non ice wines but their Riesling ice wine was amazing (smooth, sweet, can barely taste the alcohol). The discovery pass included a tasing of the ice wine and a really good blue cheese on top of a crunchy crostini bread. The store is beautiful and modern yet historic and massive with high ceilings. Great friendly staff who were warm and inviting. Loved the wine and experience and pairing. Owners of this place also own Red Stone Winery. And they are adjacent to a private residence which is very classy w beautiful hardwood and smooth floors … I would love to live here too!
