Had my wedding there in June it was a beautiful venue. We did both the ceremony and the reception all in one place. During the photo session the guests loved to walk around near the water and take photos. It was great to keep them entertained. The keeper of the centre was helpful and they answered my questions when I needed them and were there to help the day of. We had to move our venue to Whonnock which gave us less than 3 months to do everything and all the changes and such.

The problems I had was having to book the appointment to see the place. Apparently the number was wrong on google and whenever we contacted the city they didn’t have any information to give us. They gave us an email to contact someone but that person never responded. We tried going to the place to hopefully find someone, it wasn’t until attempt number 3 that we finally got someone. The grounds keepers hours make it difficult to really plan everything. The day of the wedding they couldn’t open the doors until 10am which backed us up a lot. My parents and my sister missed half of my reception because of having to get things done. They charge $300-$500 if you wanted to decorate the night before for a heads up. And I think you have to book it like many months in advance. We moved our venue last min so there was something of difficulty that I couldn’t remember. There is no opening the doors earlier or anything so they are strict to their time. It would be nice if they came up with something where it is free to come at least for a few hours the night before to just drop everything off and keep them in the building. I’ve been to plenty of functions where the venue would let them set up or bring things earlier if it’s not being used or booked. The heat was turned on during the time of the reception so it was extremely hot and uncomfortable for everyone especially when you are in a wedding dress and tuxedos. They did apologize for that and they did give us something back for the inconvenience.

Overall it’s a great place to have a wedding, if I were to know all of the policies and such before hand it would have worked out better functionally. Loving Volunteers wouldn’t have cried from the stress. I didn’t know about the tears until months after my wedding.i just showed up and found the place looking beautiful. I’m not really throwing shade at the centre they are not a wedding Facility they have other different functions that goes on besides weddings. So everything is do your own. Spend the extra money to hire workers to set up the rooms for you, do not do it on your own. They do offer round tables and comfy chairs for the reception. For the ceremony they offer fold up white chairs. it also has a kitchen and spacious washrooms. The have a room where people get ready. We had the groomsmen use that room. There is a stage for a DJ if that’s something you want to have. The outside is so pretty you don’t even have to decorate it. Nature decorates it’s self. You get awesome photos and the guests all said it’s lovely and they loved it.

I would recommend renting the facility out for a wedding or any...

Located near the boarder of Maple Ridge and Mission, Whonnock Lake is the perfect retreat for families on a hot day. It's a great lake, often with a warm temperature, and it has a cordened-off swimming area and a sandy beach. There's a kids playground, plenty of picknic benches both on and off the sand, and a little snack shack that sells hot dogs, ice-cream, ect., as well as offeres paddle boat rentals. This is a great family-friendly place and while it is always busy with many people coming and going consistantly through-out the day, it's never crowded on weekdays and rarely over-crowded on weekends. The lake is also surrounded by picturesque forests and mountains which makes for a very beautiful view. Reccommended for families with kids of all ages as well as anyone who doesn't mind the loud shouts and squeals of laughter of playing children. The lake is also open from...

Beautiful location for a wedding. The wedding I attended was outside and was beautifully decorated and the location definitely added to the beauty. During the intermission between ceremony and reception, the area was great for mingling and the dock was perfect for chatting with friends and admiring the view. Then for the reception, inside, everything was beautifully decorated and there was easily room for everyone. The large windows made it feel like we were still out in that beautiful area by the lake, and added lots of natural light. The whole event felt perfect -- I think this location is a...

I had the pleasure to DJ a few weddings at this wonderful venue. The ceremony space and lake for photos are very beautiful. I would definitely recommend getting married here if you have a smaller budget. The hall is the perfect size for 50-120 guests. DJ Vanstone Owner of ‘Zapped Productions DJs For Hire’

Nice Lake. First time visit today with the wife & baby. Not big by any means. Perfect spot for first time canoeing & kayaking! Nice little beach area & nice playground for the kiddos! Nice little lake not too far outside of the city!
