How people rate this place depends on what factors are important to them in a shopping experience.
Price People looking for a bargain will rate this place high. Prices are the cheapest anywhere.
Quality Alot of produce is fresh but they have no qualms about selling you stuff that's about to rot, so be careful, especially with pre-packed produce. This is a good place to browse for good deals on fresh produce, but if you have specific produce in mind, it may not be available, be over-priced or the specific produce in mind may not be fresh.
Attitude The people who work here are generally rude. To everyone. From my observation, their rudeness shows no discrimination.
Cleanliness It smells like old fish and cabbage. The stacks are tidy and it's generally clear of garbage and stains. So nicer than a traditional market but not up to par with modern ultra clean standards. I've never experienced pest issues shopping there, so it meets my standards.
In conclusion, great place for cheap, fresh produce, but poor service with the minimum acceptable level of cleanliness. Don't worry, they aren't treating you badly because of your race; they treat everyone equally bad.
So the previous was written over a year ago. Recently, the smell seems to have improved and the aisles are less cluttered. Some of the staff are even almost friendly (but not quite... But are an improvement from outright rude). Only one old man, who looked like he might have worked there, yelled at me impatiently to move when I was boxed in on one side by him, other customers were in front of me and the aisle was too cluttered for him to move around me. I mean, the place still stank but only in a few places, which is an improvement of the overall constant stink of before. Many items cheaper than elsewhere but must beware of suspect quality...
Read moreThe worst customer service I've ever been in GTA. Staffs don't care about humiliating and upsetting a customer. I shopped in the supermarket today and paid with my credit car. I was just leaving with my shopping when I noticed bags of sweet potatoes they leave outside of entrance for display. I took a bag and went in again to pay for it. I asked the woman on the entrance corner counter if I could paid there, she said " cash". I replied to her twice I only had credit card, in that she points me to go to regular cashier lines. I go there, I waited in the long line up, when it was my turn, the cashier tells me only credit cards when amount more than $30. I had zero cash with me. I showed her my receipt of $66 of my previous shopping, that this was an item I missed. She refused to sell me the sweet potatoes, in the heated argument she calls a " supervisor " that was the same woman in the corner counter who pointed me to go to a cashier when I told her I only had a credit card. She took the sweet potatoes, and I followed her to the corner counter, and anyone would think that as she didn't inform me from the beginning about the credit card rule she would just do the transaction. NO. She took the bag and she told me, no cash, you can't buy it. Leaving me even more upset about how more unfair this can get. This Supermarket can have good prices in certain items, but staffs treating customers this way, and not even acknowledging their own mistake is the worst...
Read moreThe food is not fresh and the workers are terrible. They always try to scam you whether it be adding water in the bag of fish during weighing or painting blood on fish to fake the freshness. My mom had gone to the supermarket originally but the workers and manager were extremely rude and disrespectful. She had politely asked to borrow the trolly to bring all the food she had purchased out to the car parked outside as one of her arms are injured and were unable to hold it all. The manager screamed in her face and insulted her. The manager stated that customers and nothing and that these employees are kings as they serve individuals during the pandemic. My mother was extremely upset and decided to return the items which they refused to let her do, and it was not against the store policy. They forced her to restock each item around the store and almost physically assaulted my parents who were trying to calmly reason. My mom and I had to call the police before they had attacked my parents. The situation had escalated and if the police had not been called to resolve the issue. Would not recommend this supermarket and will never be shopping here again as they do not deserve my money nor any other customers. They believe that they are superior and customers are worthless. DO NOT SUPPORT...
