Great park that is in the heart of the city. Tons of walking, running, biking trails. If you are new to visiting this park, know that you cannot get lost in here. It's surrounded by city streets.
There's a splash pad, a large playground,.There's a paved trail that circles a man made lake. It's unfortunate that you can no longer access the lake due to the city never replacing the bridge that used to give access to it.
There are plenty of washrooms on site and there's a canteen open in the spring/summer and I believe weekends in the fall. They have charcoal BBQ pits where you can drive your car to and BBQ and picnic. (need all your own supplies including charcoal briquettes).
In the wintertime half the park is dedicated to cross country skiing. They rent skis and snowshoes. The other half of the park is plowed and maintained in the winter. There's also a couple of skating areas (one for hockey and one for general skating). Decades ago, you used to be able to skate around the island which I wish the city would consider doing again. It was so much fun skating around the island.
While the park is safe, there are sometimes some undesirable people who sometimes hang around. During the day this shouldn't be an issue as there are lots of people and city employees going about their jobs maintaining the park. After dark you should exercise the same caution you would walking down a quiet city street by yourself.
I've been going to this park for over 40 years and it's a true gem to the...
Read moreVery fun place with lots to do, Has a waterpark/splash pad with a bunch of things like these water guns attached to the group you can turn, a big bucket that fills up and dumps on you, three little buckets that fill way faster and dump out, and alot of other thing.
There is nice places to go on picnics with bbq grills, tables, and trees to keep you in the shade.
It has 3 sand parks 1 is a little smaller for younger kids, one with a lot of climbing things like a web monkey bars, etc. And the last park has your big standard play structure stuff. (This summer they are replacing the old or as I referred to "bog standard" play equipment with some stuff for kids with disability like wheelchairs) very awesome for that Moncton!
You can go to thing this called treego (cost some money) And its pretty fun or the centennial beach witch in my opinion I would just go to a real beach because you could do more stuff (plus they are better the fake beaches)
And there is alot of trails you can go for a walk or run on.
On the other side of the park (down past the pond) there are some more picnic spots with tables and grills close to a all wood themed park that's very new.
I have gone here at lest 10000 million times in my life and its still fun. Very great park to go to or...
Read moreWe stopped by here as an after thought on a trip to Magic Mountain and I was blown away by great this park was. There are a number of picnic tables in and out of the shade. Numerous tennis courts in great condition. One of the best spray parks I have seen as well as playgrounds. There are about 3-4 playground areas close together with something for a variety of ages - toddler to middle school kids. My 4 and 6 year kids had a blast! We were there on a Sunday afternoon and there was a live band playing classic songs. There is also a OneTree facility on the grounds for older kids. Not to mention the man made beach, which we didn't see as it is closed. We spent 4 hours here and could have easily spent the day. A must see if you have kids. We will definitely be back. I just wish our city had a recreational area like this. Bonus - the...
