This is a very well maintained and defined trail for all ages. I would rate this trail as a moderate trail where young children can come here as well, if you want to bring your toddler along, you might have to carry them for some parts of the trail where it is rocky, slippery or near the edge of the cliff (quite a large part of the trail near the river is like that and there is no barricade, except some signs). Before you start, there is a big map with the various trails within the trail that you can take and they are colour coded, all the potential difficulties are labelled clearly so you can decide which one suits you. There are many colour coded signages along the trail so it is really challenging to get lost. Unlike what most say that they close some parts and stuff, it is really necessary to let the trail have a lull period for the plants to regrow or maintain some signages etc, otherwise it is way more dangerous.
I came here in fall so it was really nice, as depicted in my photos, the colours are reddish yellow and the temperature is just perfect. One thing I didn't quite like here was that there are people who vape or smoke which is highly inconsiderate, especially when there are people who bring younger children. The trail was really relaxing, air fresh (less the smoke/vape), good view of the river and good amount of foliage so there is no direct sunlight. There are plenty of huge rocks or boulders where you can sit down and have your meal, but remember to clear your own trash, this is a nature trail, not your dumping ground.
The trails are bidirectional so you can start from the left or right, and in the end you will end up at the starting point as well. There are also some adventurous few who come here for bouldering. Do note that you cannot stay overnight here so go home and sleep.
All in all this is a really nice trail and different seasons will give you a different feel and scenery which is...
Read moreWe had an amazing time hiking the Glen, when we come back we will be here again. There are the CLEANEST public bathrooms I've ever been in at a park, and I hike a lot! It's April so there isn't much open but the bathrooms. There's a big picnic area with tables overlooking the gorge and river. We hiked down the metal staircase to get to the trails, hiked along the Cliffside trail to cobblestone to the riverside trail to the end and back. About 3 hours we were there. When the cobblestone ends at river trail it's very steep but if you turn left and hike down a ways eventually you can hike down right up to the rivers edge, so nice. The trails are moderate to expert in some spots, there are very steep rock steps down so be prepared and wear the right shoes. This place is...
Read moreWould never go back! I had a very frustrating experience as I paid for an hour parking, and got a 30$ ticket literally 5 minutes after my time expired, I took an hour and 10 minutes to complete the hike, i had never done the hike so I assumed an hour parking would be sufficient. Absolute rip off! If that's how niagara parks pays their bills, I wouldn't recommend going here to anyone! I will be telling everyone I know to stay away! Unless you want a ridiculous 30$ ticket to go on a hike.
There are no options to for pay for anything other than an hour or 2 hours. $5 per hour.
Get your act together...
