North Rustico Beach, Prince Edward Island National Park — Attraction in North Rustico

Such an amazing beach. We ended up spending almost every day of our holiday on this beach because our kids loved it so much. The water is incredibly clear and very shallow (you have to walk about about 50/100m to get to waist/chest-deep water), which is perfect for kids paddling around. Keep an eye out for small lobsters and crabs wandering around as well. Also saw a gannet that slowly paddled around the swimmers. Stick to the section of beach nearest the harbour...there's a section further up that has another parking area (just need the entrance to the area) but it's a bit more...pungent (or was the week we were there). There’s something enchanting about the red sand and the dunes on PEI, and North Rustico is one of the Islands many postcard perfect locations. Full disclosure we are a little biased as we have family in North Rustico so there is certainly a sentimental attachment to the area but a visit to the area will not disappoint! From the beach to the boardwalks a day in North Rustico is highly recommended. What a beautiful part of Canada! We entered at the North Rustico gate and were given free admission as a former member of the Canadian Forces and with my CF1 Card. What a bonus. The drive along the Gulf Shore Parkway was amazing. So different from anything else one would experience in this great country of ours. There were more than a few stop and places to get pictures and a large beach that was being well used. Definitely worth a stop if you are on the island.
