It was a beautiful September evening and we arrived for dinner. The sun was ready to start setting and was casting a beautiful golden pink hue over everything. The breeze was warm and the air salty from the ocean. To our surprise we arrived at the perfect time. A fisherman was coming in ready to unload the Halibut he caught that day. It was so interesting to watch them work and I was amazed at how big the Halibut was when they were reeling it up off the boat. It was great! Now, for the food review. The food was incredible. We both had clam chowder...the best clam chowder on the island, IMO. It was perfectly thick, filled with plump clams and had a smooth and creamy consistency and not too many potatoes as filler...fantastic!. I had the fish cakes for dinner with potato salad, also the best fish cakes I've ever had. They were big, crispy, fresh tasting and just downright amazing. The potato salad was delish, not to much mayo and a super accompaniment to the fish cakes. Hubby had the lobster roll and said it was really good, he really liked the bun and that it was chock-full of sweet plum lobster...perfection! I'd suggest that you try this place out. It's my favorite go-to dinner spot on the island. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the service is top notch as are the Ceasars, they are nice and strong!...
Read moreHaving worked in the industry for years I was genuinely shocked by how we were treated here. We decided to go here for our 1 night out on our weekend getaway and were extremely disappointed. After researching where to go on the island and hearing great things about this place we were very excited to give it a try.
We called ahead of time at 6:25pm to see how busy they were and they told us that there might be a short wait as they don’t take reservations but to come on down. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:55pm thinking the restaurant was open until 8 (as listed online) and were met at the door by a very rude waitress who told us they were closing and stopped taking tables at 6:45pm.
Not only did no one tell us on the phone that last call was at 6:45pm but they told us to come down to the restaurant. We received no apology, we’re not given any suggestions about where else to go, were not able to order takeout and were essentially ushered out the door. Had we not called ahead we would have been more understanding but there was a complete lack of communication or general concern for customer experience from this establishment. While their prices are reasonable I’d suggest going elsewhere if you can. Good customer service is always worth the few...
Read moreFirst time in PEI but in all my experience in all restaurants this one is a gem! I hesitate to tell you all in case we can’t get a table again! As a small business owner I sadly do judge and look for room for improvement but refreshingly I was at a loss at this location. The food was delish and I don’t eat seafood and still had great options but my fellow diners really enjoyed the seafood options notably the lobster Mac and cheese and tacos both fish and chicken! So with the amazing food I was impressed with the best server I have had in a very long time. This young woman is a ray of sunshine at each table she stops at! Samantha you are truly wonderful and if you ever want to come our way in Alberta I have a job waiting for you. On the Dock is very lucky to have you and the ocean representing your small town. Thank you all again for the great food I also had the White Sangria delicious! Outstanding service with personality. I am Just sad we are not staying longer! The maritimes will have a lot to live up to after this lunch! A very happy...
