Lived in Lakeshorewoods for about 14 years, and this park was way better until 5 or 6 years ago when the town decided to renovate it. They installed barricades, fences, and blocked public access to the waterfront upto an extent that it has lost its charm the way it used to be, i.e. Natural! Still you may enjoy it if you don't know what it was before these renovation, and plenty of walking pathways and natural habitats. Kids play area has new style slides, swings and climbing structures, with safe padded soft rubber ground in case they fall. Parking lot is small but easy, if parking lot is full then go little south on Great Lakes Blvd and park on one of the side streets where 3 hrs parking is free. No public washroom but gas stations and coffee shops within 1-2 kms either side of Lakeshore Rd so not an issue. Overall giving 4 Stars because this place used to be one of my favourites before recent renovations. CAUTION: Family BBQs or BBQ of anykind is prohibited bylaw in all Oakville public parks. You need a licence with public liability insurance policy to do BBQ at a pre drsignated spot in any park here. You may be able to do BBQ in Bronte Provincial Park though but entry...
Read moreReally really loved this place. Beautiful view & the rocks to sit on are so nice for catching the breeze, having more sun.. There were major waves that day, so every now & then you get splashed when you're sitting on the rocks, which is refreshing.. People were jumping of the rocks, although you must check the water first before diving or that can be scary - as one kid jumped off without warning & got splash pretty hard against the rocks because of the huge wave- she's lucky her mother came over to grab her just as the water lowered. However, other 'adults' were doing it safely over & over where there were no rocks. If you go on a windy day just note that the water near the shore will be pretty dark & murky from all the sand moving around! Otherwise it's probably a lot more clear on a normal day! Not a big beach, not a lot of parking..but there's more to explore if you walk up the path away from the beach & you get a nice view of the water where there's grass & benches too. Very nice for a picnic, which is what we did, great place to swim, have a date, family day, whatever!
Amazing for pictures on the rock hehe, had to add that in! Photo shoot vibe (on...
Read moreGreat little getaway! There is a waterfront path that you can walk or simply go to the beach. The beach is sand but also has sea shells thus would recommend to bring water shoes.
It does have a really small parking lot so would recommend to come here really early if you're planning to spend the day swimming. Or you can park at Shell Park and wheel your things over in a wagon. They're not to far from each other.
There's one gazebo at the beach as well. And a more nature like path to the beach vs taking the stairs but not recommended if you're carrying more than a backpack. The photos of the tree trunks and berries are from that path.
The other side of the park near the parking lot has a kids playground and you can also walk down to the rocks. It did smell a bit because of all the algae that dried up but it is a nice spot to...
