Today myself and 3 of my friends made yet again another frequent visit to the quarry. Not once in my 20 years of existence have I ever had a problem here, for the most part younger friendly and respectful staff. However today is my last visit. It was to my understanding there was no manger in today as they are on vacation which made matters worse. Me and my 3 buddies are all 18-20 years old, yes sometimes we can be loud be we are all very respectful young men. Today the lifeguards were shouting at us to stop swimming under the inflatable trampoline. Not one of us had swam under the inflatable trampoline so we just ignored it and assumed they were talking to someone else because it was relatively busy. About an hour went by and a lifeguard made their way over to us and told us we have to leave immediately. No warning, wouldn’t explain the reasoning until we refused to leave without one. The lifeguard who was telling us to leave had claimed she personally saw us swimming under the trampoline, she said we were being disrespectful to others, “pushing, shoving, no awareness” I felt directly attacked considering this happens almost often as young men trying to have fun. We were falsely accused today and forcefully removed from the premises. I live very close by and it is truly a shame my life long experience here is ruined because of 1 staff member who didn’t...
Read moreWent to the St. Marys Quarry today with a group of friends and were having a great time… until one of the lifeguards completely ruined it. We were just joking around on the inflatables, being typical teenage boys, teasing each other and messing around. Yeah, some of the stuff we said might’ve sounded inappropriate if you overheard it out of context, but it was just between us. Out of nowhere, the blonde head lifeguard on the inflatables came over and kicked only me out, even though we were all doing the exact same thing.
No warning, no “hey guys, tone it down," just straight to kicking me out. At first, we honestly thought she was joking because no one had said anything to us the whole time. But she was completely serious. We apologized and were super respectful. We swam in without any issue, didn’t argue, just accepted it.
But when we were leaving, she looked at us and waved in the most unprofessional way and said “bye-bye” like she was mocking us. It felt super petty and unnecessary.
We had a good time up until that point, but getting kicked out randomly with no warning and being treated like that by a lifeguard (especially the head one) was honestly just...
Read moreI have mixed feelings. I LOVED the swimming. My children and I floated around the quarry having a great time.
I did not love, the Bluetooth speakers, shade tents, mini BBQs, someone smoking behind the shed!?!?! (Seriously?!), massive pop up chairs taking up the space of three humans while we struggle to find a spot to place our, folded, towels.
I hope they add some rules to make it a little more peaceful on the Greenspace. They may want to consider restricting what people bring in (I'm looking at you oversized-shade tent guy).
4 people = 4 towels and some empty shoes because they went for a swim. You want to BBQ and set up tables with 20 (not swimming) family members? Go to the park next door.
Overall review:
Staff: Great! (Energetic and helpful) Swim: relaxing (and lot of room to move) Green space: like sharing an undersized dorm room with 100+ people. (Literally trying not to step on someone).
I will try on a weekday and hope that we have a...
