Dynamic trail, lots to look at, not just a boring paved trail or open boring fields. Trail is well marked and easy to navigate with maps at every letter-checkpoint. Some sections of the path drop down to single file. Had to hop over a few trees that had fallen over the path. Wife and I did the smaller A-H loop which was about 4km in 1 hr, though the G-H leg was closed and we had to back-track but glad we did because we found a dope boardwalk. Due to high roots and not-smooth boardwalks I can't see anyone managing a stroller. No dogs allowed on NCC trails as to not have their pee annihilate the conservation wild life. Please note that I almost duducted a star from my review on account of a slug that must have fallen out of a tree and onto my hood and then my beard and then gooed-up my smartphone, but I decided not to hold it against him. First time here and I've already moved this to my Favourites list and looking forward to coming back for the...
Read moreFairly nice trail, definitely beginner- easy. Wildlife is fairly restricted Ie: chickadees, squirrels, woodpeckers, chipmunks, cardinals, bluejays, loons and geese during the summer, the odd fish and I have seen a deer once in walking the trail over 20 times. However the brightside is that the animals for the most part are very friendly if you keep quiet and slow. There are numerous spots to hold up birdseed and have chickadees come to your hand. I have hand fed a squirrel when all the seed supply looked rather low. I reccomend bringing your own seed as often the feeders are full of shells and casings. Should not take more then an hour and a half. Sorry to say I cant think of the time exactly as I dont time family strolls however my best guess is about a 45m loop (longer with kids). The boardwalk section is neat for kids, the cat-tails are fun to hold but DO NOT let those evil things...
Read moreBeautiful trail and easy hike. My children and I opted for a shorter option (30 min to reach the end). It is a kid friendly trail. Great for bird feeding. Well maintained but very mudy in some patches and as a heads up too many mosquitoes. You will see cute chipmunks and squirells and a variety of birds and beautiful wild mushrooms as well among other things. Parking available at P9 with washrooms and a couple of picnic tables. Not very stroller friendly because of the tree roots and stones so it would be hard to manage the stroller unless you have a heavy duty stroller and you are up for the challenge. You will find a map at the entrance which will help you decide how to go with your hike if you prefer a longer or shorter option and at each point there are banners and another copy of the map to help you juggle your way through and stay on track without...
