I have lived in the community for years and looked forward to swimming at petticoatcreek conservation as it accomodated everyone. I use to brag to family and friends how wonderful it was to have a pool 1.25 acres lg.with a cushion bottom, wading pool at one end, shallow around all sides for small children, but having a large deep area in middle for us adults, it was terrific. Because of what it had to offer, I ourchased a conservation pass at for $300 every year for 10yrs. Well when we were told that 1 million was going to be soent fixing it, I was thrilled, thinking more change rooms, better snack bar, repair of parking lot, and cleaner facilities would be the focus. Now we have several wading pools, basically no adult section, still 3 filthy washroom stalls in each bathroom, men and womens, took down change rooms and made a big open space for all of you to strip your bathing suit off in front of other people and their children. Last I saw the parking lot was still cracked with weeds growing up through it. I guess you could say that pool I looked forward to take my older children and myself to, so we could swim, became one very large wading pool, which we already have at lookout point, Oh the cushion bottom your small children and you could sit on, is now cement you cut your feet on, less lifeguards, dirty limited washrooms (only one for men, one for women), and a big change room you can flash your neighbors. This cost one million. For the cost of one million, the contactors removed good cushion flooring, placed a few fountains, tore down the change rooms, replaced with a bench around the room, that hundreds of bare bottoms sit on (how hygenic) and a better entrance booth, less lifeguards ( which have been told budget cuts). Very few of the neihborhood use this facility anymore, not worth the membership cost. There are two fees to pay, one to park another for the pool.. You want to cool your small children off, get a blow up pool and save your...

Keep paying taxes to the MPs in this area. They have spent money to elect themselves and now they have to get rich with our hard working money. Good business! Corrupted Government!

We pay taxes right and left still have to pay money for public parks.

However, you have to wait hours to pass trough the payment gate. No enough picnic tables in the park, no security, (Security and Police have to be at the pool entrance where the washrooms are, no clean washroom, no separate changing rooms for families or kids. Single Adults age 40-50 going in the same changing room where kids are changing clothes. They have to put a clear signage for newcomers in Canada so they know which washrooms should they use family, disable, men or women.

Overall, for the amount of taxes we pay for this corrupted government, we cannot go somewhere in the nature a few days of summer and enjoy for free.

Or, at least, if we pay for public parks then should we get a...

So it was the first time my family went there because we’ve just got our TRCA membership back in Feb, we didn’t have to pay for entry fee nor parking fee which was great. There were fewer visitors obviously, and the walk was relaxing. There were many big pieces of green to run around with, some people brought their dogs over. The park is located next to Lake Ontario in Ajax, so visitors can get close to the cliff and take a peek of the lake, although it’s not recommended by the park management. It was a pleasant 20-minutes walk on the park trail from one end to another, and towards the end of the trail is a large steel connecting bridge to a nearby neighborhood. We looked down the bridge to find a young deer fetching for food near the river towards the opening to Lake Ontario. I believe camp booking is available on this site as well. Lots of birds, some squirrels and occasionally a rabbit hopping in and out of the plants.

I will not give my full review on this one since we did not explore the whole area. I did not see if there is a playground for kids. but surely it is good place for family gathering and team building since the place is so huge. I like to think that the petticoat creek conservation park is still under renovation since I saw a lot of notice of inaccessible routes. And I hoping they come out an idea to build ladder which is safe going to the lake front. the route going to the beach is a bit stiff for amateur like me it is quite dangerous. I just surprised with the parking fee which is 28 cad dollars. I really hope they improve the conservation so that the fees worth it. I did not see the washroom but they do have. I notice a lot of functioning table and cottage for events.
