The Waterfront Trail in Pickering, while beautiful, is not accessible to those using mobility devices, particularly between Millennium Square and Alex Robertson Park (approximately 1000ft/305m), as it is a sandy beach and not a trail at all. Cyclists have to dismount and walk their bikes across the sand.

To get around this lack of accessibility, people using wheel chairs or mobility scooters (or those who cannot push their bicycle through the sand), from Millennium Square would need to go north to Kronos Blvd, go east to Sandy Beach Rd, and south to the south end of Alex Robertson Park.

Additionally, at other points of the trail, gates positioned to slow down cyclists (I.e. bridge near Petticoat Creek) or prevent motor vehicles from accessing the trail, make it a incredibly difficult to access the trails using a wheel chair or...

We took a drive over to Rouge park on Sunday, expected it to be busy and it was. There was some guys working managing the gate, managing cars going in and out, ensuring there were enough spaces to park. we were told it was busy and to maintain social distancing which was easy even though the park had a lot of people. We walked the path back towards Rouge Hill GO station and it was lovely. The colors were fantastic, seeing what I think was the Pickering power plant in the distance gave it kind of a post apocalyptic kind of look. It was great to see so many people enjoying the outdoors, the beach, the Sun period some were swimming, I'm not so sure about that, but good for them! Beautifulplace to enjoy the Fall colors take some really lovely pictures and just get out and enjoy being...

Beautiful place. There's the lake where people can swim or just take a dip. Children play in the sand. Some do sunbathing. I've seen families bring their tents and do some barbecuing here in the summer. Some come to go fishing. Oh yes, there are fish, and I saw someone caught a big one right under the bridge.

There's actually a lot of things you can do in this place especially in the summer.

I come here to pass the time. Take a walk at the waterfront or up the hill overlooking the water. Sometimes I simply sit by the lake and enjoy the scenery. I make sure that i bring my camera though. There's a lot of good scenes to catch on film including several migratory birds that...

This is a great place to go for a walk! It's like two places in one, divided by an overpass for trains. The north side of the tracks has the entrance, parking lot, and the south end of the Rouge River. People go fishing and canoeing on this side. It's also a lot of wildlife, mostly birds, on this side. South of the tracks, there's a large sandy beach, the shores of Lake Ontario. If you could imagine palm trees, you'd think you were somewhere tropical...until you go in the water. Brrr!!!
