Read moreGreat place for summer. You have to come early because the parking is limited. Parking are very organized and they control and limit when maximum capacity has reached. This is one park that the washrooms are better than the others. They provide tissue papers and have automatic flush with separate showers for swimmers. It a nice spot for sunbathing and it has sands not pebbles or rocks. When sun hits the highest this is a good location to sunbathe and swim because the water is not super cold. They don't restrict use of floaters or boards. The trail is easy around the lake and it's not barricaded, you can find tiny spots to stay if you don't like the crowding shoreline. By the bridge you can do crabbing and some spot to stay for swimmer. This spot is deeper and most of the bigger floaties' starting point. It has trail connections to other lake and trails but we haven't tried it yet. If you needed a go there's a loo in the middle of the hill by the trail. Overall, this is a good place for a lot of water activities...
Read moreAs triathletes with the 363 Triathlon Club, we’ve swum in many lakes across BC, but Sasamat stands out as one of the best open water swim (OWS) spots. The water is clear, calm, and comfortable for long-distance training, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced swimmers. The lake is well-sheltered, so you don’t get the same choppy conditions you find elsewhere, and the distance across is perfect for simulating race efforts.
Accessibility is another big plus – parking is close, the beach entry is smooth, and there’s enough space for warm-ups and post-swim stretches. On weekends it can get busy, but if you go early mornings, it feels like your own private training ground. Safety-wise, the visibility is great and the lake feels secure for group or solo swims.
For triathlon training, Sasamat is unbeatable the lake has become a go-to for our club’s OWS sessions, and it’s a gem we always recommend to...
