This is physically a very extremely beautiful temple, like wow. Although, I was a bit disappointed by the "touristy vibe" which this temples presence brought in, with very little ambiance felt for the "within", thus the 3 stars because "everything" is about energy, frequency and vibration to me. I felt this presence and ambiance and welcome at the little vegetarian restaurant in the back where the cutest little elders greeted us with delight and glee as smiling Buddha faces with tea, oh what a refreshing feeling of joy as their generosity and happiness to serve overflowed with buddha smiles, i am melting typing this part. Although the prices were a bit steep with a minimum $$ purchase requirement, We had to order some of the simple but delicious 😋 offerings. Monastic centres are often created for the "internal" grounding presence of the "animal/reptilian/amygdala/survival mind & nervous system, to support practicioners like monks & nuns in their daily practices, as a result, when one walks into such spaces, the purity of its spaces, and environment is often felt, as it supports a practitioners embodiment of their spiritual practices. I felt this depth of presence when I met the Buddha under the tree teaching his disciples in the outside garden space across from the main temple spaces. And it was here I finally dropped to my knees with the awareness that I am student of his forever. We are not allowed to take pictures of certain spaces and this was one of them, so I didn't. To the right was an inscription of his teachings of the 4 Noble truths & 8 fold path which is the HEART & SOUL FOUNDATION of my personal embodied practices as a humble self-realized practicioner. I look forward to visiting this beautiful space again, this time for one of the offered Saturday or Sunday practices.

I recently visited the International Buddhist Temple and dined at the Taste of Zen Kitchen, and I couldn’t be more impressed. This place is truly a hidden gem and a peaceful escape from the city. Atmosphere: The temple grounds are absolutely beautiful, with traditional architecture, serene gardens, and calm water features that make for an incredibly tranquil setting. Walking through the temple grounds felt like stepping into another world, where everything is peaceful and intentional. Volunteers: The volunteers here are some of the kindest, most welcoming people I’ve encountered. You can see they take pride in maintaining the temple and making visitors feel welcome. Taste of Zen Kitchen: The vegetarian food here is exceptional! Every dish is prepared with care, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into creating meals that are both delicious and nourishing. I tried yam fish and dim sum platter and they were flavorful and satisfying. Perfect for anyone looking to try quality vegetarian food with authentic flavors. Calm and Relaxing: This spot is perfect for a day of relaxation and reflection. The overall vibe is peaceful, and there are plenty of spots to sit and take in the surroundings. It’s a wonderful place to clear your mind and feel at ease. Overall: If you're looking for a unique, calming experience with delicious vegetarian food, the International Buddhist Temple and Taste of Zen Kitchen are a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a serene day out.

Quiet place for people to calm down and reflect on oneself.

The International Buddhism Temple in Vancouver is truly a gem that offers a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My visit to this temple was nothing short of extraordinary, and I felt compelled to share my experience.

Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the temple's stunning architecture. The intricate design and vibrant colors are a testament to traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Every detail, from the ornate dragons guarding the entrance to the serene Buddha statues, reflects a deep sense of reverence and artistry. The temple grounds are meticulously maintained, offering a tranquil setting for reflection and exploration.

One of the highlights of my visit was the breathtaking garden. The meticulously landscaped space is adorned with lush greenery, blooming flowers, and peaceful water features. Walking through the garden, I felt an overwhelming sense of calm. The gentle sound of water trickling from the fountains and the soft rustling of leaves in the wind created an ambiance of tranquility. It's the perfect place to meditate or simply relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Inside the temple, the atmosphere is equally peaceful. The main hall houses an impressive golden Buddha statue, surrounded by intricately carved wooden panels and beautiful murals depicting various scenes from Buddhist teachings. The soft lighting and the scent of incense create a sacred space that invites visitors to pause and reflect. I was fortunate enough to witness a group of monks chanting during my visit, which added to the spiritual depth of the experience.

The temple also offers educational resources for those interested in learning more about Buddhism. There are numerous informational plaques and displays throughout the temple grounds, providing insights into Buddhist philosophy and the significance of various rituals and symbols. The temple staff are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and share their wisdom.

Another aspect that impressed me was the community engagement. The temple frequently hosts cultural events, workshops, and meditation sessions that are open to the public. These activities provide a wonderful opportunity to immerse oneself in Buddhist culture and practice mindfulness in a supportive environment.

In terms of amenities, the temple has a well-stocked gift shop offering a variety of spiritual items, books, and souvenirs. There is also a vegetarian restaurant on-site, serving delicious and wholesome meals. I had the pleasure of dining there, and the food was not only tasty but also prepared with great care and attention to detail.

Overall, the International Buddhism Temple is a must-visit for anyone seeking peace, cultural enrichment, or spiritual insight. Whether you are a devout Buddhist, a curious traveler, or simply someone looking to escape the fast pace of city life, this temple offers a sanctuary of beauty, wisdom, and serenity. I left feeling rejuvenated and inspired, and I highly recommend a visit to this...

The International Buddhist Temple in Richmond, British Columbia, is a breathtaking sanctuary that seamlessly blends spiritual depth with architectural grandeur. Modeled after Beijing’s Forbidden City, this temple is not only one of the most visually stunning religious sites in North America, but also a beacon of cultural preservation and compassionate service.

From the moment you step through its ornate gates, the temple envelops you in a serene atmosphere. The classical Chinese garden at the entrance—with its koi pond, twin gazebos, and intricate sculptures—sets the tone for a journey that is both meditative and awe-inspiring. The temple complex itself is a masterpiece of traditional Chinese imperial architecture, featuring red and gold motifs, sweeping tiled roofs, and elaborate carvings that reflect centuries of craftsmanship and devotion.

Inside, visitors encounter a series of halls and pavilions, each with its own spiritual and artistic significance. The Seven Buddha Pavilion, the Thousand Buddha Hall, and the Main Gracious Hall are not just places of worship—they are immersive experiences that invite reflection and reverence. The ceramic murals, calligraphy, and sculptures throughout the temple rival those found in fine art galleries, yet they remain deeply rooted in Buddhist teachings and symbolism.

What makes the International Buddhist Temple truly exceptional is its inclusivity and community spirit. Though it is rooted in Mahayana Buddhism, the temple welcomes visitors of all backgrounds and beliefs. It serves as a cultural bridge, offering educational tours, public lectures, and traditional ceremonies that foster understanding and unity. The temple’s commitment to charity is equally inspiring, with programs that support food banks, rescue marine life, and aid disadvantaged communities both locally and abroad.

At the heart of this vibrant institution is the Venerable Guan Cheng, a scholar and spiritual leader whose dedication to spreading the Dharma has touched lives across continents. His teachings, radio broadcasts, and public engagements reflect a deep commitment to compassion, wisdom, and ethical living.

Visiting the International Buddhist Temple is not just a cultural outing—it’s a transformative experience. Whether you come seeking spiritual insight, architectural beauty, or simply a moment of peace, the temple offers a rare blend of all three. It stands as a living testament to the power of tradition, the beauty of diversity, and the enduring relevance of Buddhist philosophy in...
