We recently visited UU Family Farm and found it to be a peaceful and serene place, perfect for families looking to unwind in nature. The open space and quiet surroundings were definitely a highlight. However, while the farm is quite large, we were surprised to see that there were only a few animals. Because of the number of visitors, the animals seem to get full quickly from being fed throughout the day, which makes the experience feel a bit limited, especially for kids hoping to interact more with the animals.
We also noticed that admission is on the expensive side, especially when compared to another farm we recently visited that offered more animals, attractions, and a lower price point.
A few safety concerns stood out as well. There were fountains with deep water and no fencing around them, which felt unsafe considering the farm is designed with children in mind. Additionally, one of the staff members warned us that a horse or pony on the premises has shown aggressive behavior. The animal was roaming freely and, had a staff member not been present at the time, we may have unknowingly attempted to feed it, potentially putting our child at risk.
Suggestions for the owner:
Consider adding more animals or rotating feeding times to ensure a fuller experience for all guests.
Reevaluate the admission cost to better reflect the current offerings.
Install safety fences or barriers around any bodies of water on the property.
Ensure that any animals with known aggressive behavior are kept in clearly marked and secure enclosures.
Post clear signage with safety reminders and animal behavior notices to help guide visitors, especially those with...
Read moreWe paid $20 per adult for entrance . The animals are cute and it’s fun to interact with them, they are gentle and calm. Animals include goats, sheep, ducks, swans, cranes, ponies , turkey and chickens.
At the back of the farm, there are some short walking trails that seems to be under construction, hopefully more animals to see next time? There is nice bbq area for families available ( but I am guessing it might need prior booking).
As I came with my little boy (under 1 year old) I am thinking maybe it will be nice to have a small simple playground near the bbq area i.e slide or swing for the younger kids to get some of energy out ! simple stalls/vending machines to get some snacks/ drinks or ice cream or waffles will be nice too.
It is great to have many tables and chairs around the farm provided for families to take breaks , however to my surprise there is no proper toilet with changing table for nappy change for parents ( since it is supposedly a family friendly farm) . There are only two portable toilets and sinks . Personally if it is a “petting zoo” concept farm , I was expecting more hand washing stations/ sanitizing stations to be more be readily available for guests. Hand washing and sanitizing is utmost important to prevent illness and protect health.
Overall, it is still a fun experience and day out with my family to the farm and will...
Read moreWow! I definitely did not expect what we experienced today at the UU Family Farm. Someone had mentioned a “farm” last week to us in South Surrey. Growing up in Richmond, I had not heard of such farm. So I googled “sidaway farm” and found this place! I went with my 2 kids, 6 and 2 which was just under $45. This place was beautiful, wide open space for all the animals to roam free and the guests :) We had spent an hour already here and did not realize that the farm when further back. It was amazing to see the farm animals alongside emus, African birds, Argentinian birds roaming around this very serene land! My son even got to carry a little Joey and we got to see some younger wallabies! The admission also includes re entry until the end of day! The kids loved being able to feed the animals and really interact with them!
For the cost I feel like it was reasonable considering the upkeep, maintenance, food, etc! We hope this is just the start for this beautiful piece...
