On my first day to this beach I met with an elderly lady who was living in the area for around 50 years. She said once this place was full of tin and cans due to parties all the time but now it has been cleaned out. This place is a worth to see if you are visiting uptown(downtown) Saint John.

Really appreciate the beach and the water I love the fact that there is so much to explore and the history behind it is amazing and spectacular for exploring and watching the ships and wildlife as well as the great tides.

Great spot to view Partridge Island and the ports. Depending on the tide you can walk out and look for cool rocks, seashells and fossils. There are some benches you can sit at for a picnic or coffee.

One of the few places "Uptown" that you can actually get to the water. This is a gravel and rock beach but nice just the same. Paved parking and a short walk to the breakwater and beach. Tide goes out a long ways. this is a popular spot for sitting in your car and watching the ferry, cruise ships (schedule available online) cargo ships and tug boats come and go. Partridge Island is directly off shore from this. On a clear day you can see Nova Scotia, on a foggy day you can see your feet. Some benches and picnic tables in season. Binoculars are worth bringing. People sometimes have campfires on the beach. But you might find it a little...

Overlooking Patridge Island, Tin Can Beach was named following the arrival of the American Loyalists from the American Revolutionary War in 1783, and the formation of the city of Saint John, there was the need for a lighthouse to aid shipping. A light station was erected on Partridge Island and began operating in 1791.

The island's indigenous folklore begins with the Mi'kmaq Nation however, who referred to the island as "Quak'm'kagan'ik" meaning "a piece cut out." This name is in reference to the belief that the island was created when Glooscap smashed the dam that "Big...

Rugged beach, southernmost area of South end peninsula. beautiful spot that but used to be waaaaaay dirtier. Undeveloped and hope it stays that way. Great view of partridge island, the harbour and docks, the West Side ... Along this beach are the skeletal remains of old docks generations old in the process of eroding into the ocean. Wear shoes. lots of weathered...
