I love pizza, so when I'm traveling, it's always fun to try a local pizza joint. This particular weekend, I found myself in Saint John (New Brunswick).
I had read lots of great reviews on Julius' pizza, so it was on my list of places to try.
The location is within "uptown" but a block or two away from the cluster of pubs and bars. The building is old, the decor is basic and somewhat dated. I strolled in and decided to just get a slice rather than a whole pizza.
The slices are large; likely a quarter of a 12" per slice and priced right. I got a slice of meat pizza. It was hot and looked good. The taste to me was average. Nothing stood out other than the pepperoni had a unique taste (neither good or bad). The sauce didn't stand out to me, but the quantity of toppings was perfect.
There was nothing wrong with the pizza, it just didn't stand out as fantastic to me.

Read moreA local favorite and in business for over 30 years. Pizza slices are always on if you're in a hurry, mozza sticks are absolutely awesome, and the souvlaki trio is definitely a favorite of mine. Prices are super affordable and staff is usually friendly but the past 2 times I ordered over the phone the woman was fairly rude. I was overcharged and told the delivery driver and he just shrugged and told me to call the restaurant but this chick would not answer. The 2nd time she just sounded like me just calling to order bothered her. Then she hung up. Not pleased with her attitude but still one of my faves In town and well worth the visit and well worth supporting this family owned...
Read moreGreat pizza, friendly staff, open late. Have only been once but it was amazing and can't wait to go again. Wish I lived closer. I just had a slice of what they had out which was in no way my preferred ingredients, but it was still delicious and I had to have a second slice. I'm dying to find out what they would do with some custom toppings. I've had good, fancy, wood-fired, "gourmet" pizza at little bistro joints elsewhere, and Julius pizza is not that kind of pizza, so get over it those who call it "greasy", but if you're looking for a hearty late-night slab of pizza that doesn't skimp on the cheese or toppings, just right after a night of beers, then this...
