PKOLS, formerly Mount Douglas Park, is one of Victoria’s most incredible natural escapes. It offers something for everyone—from casual walkers to serious hikers. The wildlife here is abundant and diverse. During my visit, I spotted woodpeckers, chickadees, and even deer grazing peacefully in the meadows. The dense forest is filled with native plants, mossy trees, and ferns, making every trail feel magical.
The benches along the trails provide the perfect spots to rest and take in the breathtaking sights. If you venture to the summit, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the city, ocean, and mountains—on clear days, the Olympic Peninsula is visible. The peaceful sound of wind rustling through the trees and birds singing in the canopy above adds to the park’s tranquil vibe. The park is open year-round, and its trails are well-maintained, though it’s best to wear proper shoes if you’re hiking up to the summit—it can be a bit steep.
Whether you’re looking for a challenging hike, a peaceful nature walk, or simply a spot to soak in the beauty of Vancouver Island’s landscapes, PKOLS is an...

There's a paved roadway for a safer (easier on the knees and little chance of slipping or falling or twisting an ankle).
Amazing views in all directions...
