Being a wanderer I've traveled across Canada from coast to coast and have visited many provincial and national parks like Writing on Stone provincial park and Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. I'm sad to say that Springwater Provincial Park is one of the more boring parks I've been too, no elevated views or firepits. Muddy trails that loop, bunch of benches that are positioned to view nothing. Great place if you don't like noise or walking as it's usually empty. Alot of pavilions that are sort of useless because even in the summer these don't get used much. This park has so much potential but for now I rather drive another 35 minutes to go to Six mile provincial park. *Edited 2018* Have gone back twice since my initial post and had a guilty feeling for how I reviewed the park. I didn’t give enough credit, although Not much has changed...I do appreciate not having to drive very far to get a feel of being in a dense forest and a solid 7 Km walk. I even saw a barn Owl.

Trails at Springwater were very easy to navigate and are not difficult. The trail paths were fairly wide and flat which contributed to the ease of navigating. As well, all of the trails loop back to a central point. Due to the proximity to rail tracks, on occasion you may be able to see a train pass by along the trail paths that run parallel to the tracks. There were also ample space for picnics and groups on site as there were many picnic areas. The park is also best known for its Christmas lights (Magic of Lights) attraction during the holidays which is a drive through trail of lights at night. Overall, the park is a good park for hiking or walking trails as it is not too difficult.

Went to burn some energy with kids on grey summery day...no parking lots were open, despite the park being virtually empty. We drove around full route twice. No park maps were available or any place to purchase Crests/Stickers or swag for the park hoppers. It was kind of disappointing. There are two swing sets. Lots of trails to wander and explore but not great signage. One main Pavillion with picnic benches. Would be nice spot to run a program or activity. Overall, we likely won't return. Maybe it's better in the winter for snow shoeing.

Light show was great.. service horrible. We placed an order and paid for two cars.. get there with two cars and get pulled aside for scanning problems. Then we're told only one car can go through because we only have one order number (but 2 cars on the order). They said we needed two order numbers or they wont let the 2nd car in. Then we're asked if the 2nd car can pay again (not happening). We ask to see/call a supervisor and were told there is no one... and also told that the head office is in the United States (for which there is no phone number to call). Then she tries scanning the tickets again and it works.. needless to say It wasn't a good start to what should have been a joyess occasion. (Went...

We visited Springwater for an afternoon hike and picnic. Compared to the beautiful place it was in past years, it is just sad now. Many parking lots were closed (in the middle of summer!) making it difficult to find the various areas of the park. Once inside, maintenance is minimal. Grass isn't cut, trails are poorly marked and poorly maintained. Garbage cans were full on a Friday afternoon! I guess they don't bother with cleaning up for weekend visitors. Some of the areas we considered for our picnic had no picnic tables! We didn't see any park staff the entire time we were there. Not at the front gate or the park office, or anywhere else! It almost seems like Ontario Parks has forgotten about...
