Very Greatful and Thanks for the sincere and humble workers of the Centennial Park and Beach.Wonderful find for the year…. My co-worker suggested this beautiful beach to spend time with my son…. But the drive turned out to be great too…I took my friends and their children with us to spend a great sunny day few weeks ago. After playing at the beach. My son changed his clothes right away , took his backpack with him and ran to the playground area. I cleaned everything and forgot he had his backpack with him. By 8 pm we decided to grab all the children and leave. By 9.30pm. After coming back home he realised he left his backpack in the playground. He had his mobile phone which I gifted him inside the bag. Than losing his phone he was upset he has lost all his gaming apps and passwords along with his memorable pictures of his old friends. He cried all night. Next day I called BC parks Vancouver and filed a complaint. They guided that they will contact centennial park office and let them know about the loss. The same day by noon I received a call from centennial park and beach office. A very humble person called and enquired about the lost backpack, it’s colour and time and date. They had it with them safely. But they never opened it or try to look what was inside. Then the gentlemen told I can receive it from the beach the same day. I brought my son after work and received it from a lovely lady. My son was superb happy that he got his mobile and backpack. He gifted them a gift card and took a picture with her. She said someone who worked that night saved the backpack in the office. Thanks a lot for the workers being so sincere and humble. It’s a very clean and well maintained beach… very safe for families with children… I really appreciate their good...
Read moreUsed to go to Crescent Beach until we tried Centennial. Parking is easier as they have a much larger area, beach space is also more plentiful, and a large playground helps kids stay occupied if they want a break from the beach/water. Bathrooms are updated and clean as is the concession stand and on busy holidays the Park staff are noticeably visible and working hard to keep the area tidy. I like that there is a regional park just adjacent to the recreational beach so one gets to enjoy an urban beach scene but also the more rustic ungroomed natural looking beach with its vegetation more intact and wildlife abundant. Its also more enjoyable at various levels of tide: low tide can go out 400m or more along the sand flats which encourages long walks and spreads the crowd out to find shallow fingers of water suitable for small kids or to reach the ocean, while high tide is still very manageable for people of all abilities and more accessible to go snorkeling or get your floaties into the water. Water is less turbid compared to many other locations and there is also less flotsam, which makes the water more enjoyable. I also generally find the people who come here well mannered (as the long reach of tides seems to attract people with more patience), with more care taken with clean-up, and not being excessively noisy or kids/teens being out of control. Because its quite spacious its a great place to bring a canopy, large tent, or multiple blankets and still not encroach on...
Read moreWant to experience tropical beach without leaving Great White North? Come to this place in mid-summer evening at high tide - the combination of shallow tidal flat and a long day of sunshine warms the water up to 100F (38-39C). At low tide the sea recedes for almost half a mile, and the bare sandy bottom is heated by the sun. Come high tide, the cold ocean water rolls into the bay over the hot sand absorbing the heat. The best water is towards the northern end of the beach, farther from the bay mouth, you'd need to walk at least 500 yards north from the beach entrance. But even near the entrance the water is as warm as in a swimming pool. This place is ideal for families with small kids: almost a mile of sandy beach, depth below 1 yard as far as 100 yard off the shore, friendly sea bottom (firm sand covered by shells and in some places - by short grass resembling a lawn, it becomes an attraction by itself at low tide when it bares), and a very good playground nearby. Adults will enjoy breathtaking views of snowy Baker mountain, good concession, hot outdoor shower, clean change rooms, and plenty of parking. Check the weather (pay attention to air temperature and wind speed - sometimes it gets breezy, after all it's still Canada and not a real tropic) and tide tables (Google "tide chart Tsawwassen"), and come for a unique Canadian tropical...
