The trail itself is beautiful. The lights, the shapeThe views are spectacular. You won't be running into each other because of overcrowding. I gave it a low review for a few reasons. I am a season's passholder for skiing. Thus, I had a discount for the skating. I went skating with my twenty year old sons with our own skates, and it cost me a hundred n twenty four dollars!!!!!!! With the discount. One hundred and twenty four dollars to skate for 2 hours, with nothing in return but skating. My girlfriend took her five kids, and it cost her a hundred n seventy dollars! How do you expect lower income families to be able to embrace winter? When you are over pricing, such an event? I'm actually appalled. Sure, they have a fireplace where you change into your skates. They also have a snack bar. Where you can buy a bottle of coke for 7 dollars. That's a small bottle by the way. I don't mind spending the money if there was free, hot chocolate included or bottles of water. I'm going to tell you that they didn't even clear the ice in the two hours that I was there, it was very rough. I also want people to understand if they are beginners. There is nothing for you to hang on to, some of the skating is up hill, just ever, so slightly therefore, it's not for the faint at heart. The nice thing is, eventually it's slightly downhill, so you can coast a little. It's a magnificent place to go on a date, but if you're planning to take your children be prepared. You can lose them. And if you have to rent skates as well. It will drain your bank account. Unless of course, money isn't a concern for you. The music is softly playing most places. You can't hear it only when you pass the speaker. I don't mean to sound so negative because i'm usually a very positive person. I was just completely shocked. That it cost me a $124 to skate with my 2 grown sons. When we had our own equipment and I had a five by seven pass discount. Without the discount, it would have been a hundred and forty seven dollars ouch! With rough and...
Read moreIf you are ready to pay $26 for two hours of skating, come after dusk. The illumination is spectacular, and the rink is not too crowded. We skated on Sunday between 6 pm and 8 pm - it could be busier on Friday or Saturday evening. The ticket shack closes around 7:30 pm. Since nobody checks the tickets, it might be possible to skate for free. I had an Ikon pass, which gives a few discounts here and there on the Blue Mountain, and I habitually asked if it applied to skating tickets. To my astonishment, the cashier said yes, 50% off with an Ikon pass, starting Monday. I was not what she meant: whether the discount program would begin for the first time on Monday or that the discount worked only on the workdays. Once you've put on skates in the tent, be very careful getting to the main skating trail - the ice around the tent is very bumpy. If you are not a good skater or just want to race with your friends, grab one of the red "walkers" thingies (see photo). There are benches along the trail to rest or tighten the laces, and the piles of snow alongside the rink come in handy if you don't know how to stop. I am giving it four stars because the price of a ticket is unjustifiably high. Ikon pass holders: you'll get 50% off on certain days. Sunday is not one of them, and I assume neither is Saturday and maybe...
Read more$38 to skate for 2 hours seemed like robbery. But since it’s Blue Mountain they seem to charge whatever they want because people will pay for a tourist attraction. Let’s not forget the day pass they’ve now required to simply go hiking on the mountain in the summer eye roll
The track wasn’t maintained well and was rough and bumpy all throughout the loop. The staff promptly stated “I’m going to need you to pack up your things and leave” after the 2 hour time period…as we were about to leave. Frankly it was unnecessary, aggressive, and rude - don’t expect decent customer service here.
All the track is good for is the views from atop the mountain but save yourself the hassle and money by getting a beaver tail, hot chocolate, and walking along the trails at the top to catch the views.
Highly recommend the skating loop at Arrowhead Provincial Park instead - just pay the entrance fee to the park and skate for as long as you want, AND...
